The second fitting portion has a second surface side portion located on the surface side of the intermediate member when fitted with the fourth fitting portion, and a second back side portion located on the back side of the intermediate member. The first back side portion has a first pressing portion formed thereon, which is a crank-shaped bend on the front side and extends downward from the tip of the first front side portion. The second back side portion has a second pressing portion formed thereon, which is a crank-shaped bend on the front side and extends upward from the tip of the second front side portion. The first pressing portion presses the back surface of the middle member when the first fitting portion and the third fitting portion are fitted together. The second pressing portion presses the back surface of the middle member when the second fitting portion and the fourth fitting portion are fitted together. The third fitting portion has an upper edge of the middle member that is bent outwards, and a third pressing portion that presses against the back surface of the first surface side when the first fitting portion and the third fitting portion are fitted together. The fourth fitting portion is a side bumper in which the lower edge of the middle member is bent outwards and a fourth pressing portion presses against the back surface of the second surface side portion when the second fitting portion and the fourth fitting portion are fitted together .
- In the side bumper according to claim 1, The lower member is a side bumper, having the same shape as the upper member.
Description
This invention relates to a side bumper that is mounted on the side of a vehicle. Conventionally, to prevent trucks and other cargo vehicles from entangling people, bicycles, etc., when turning left or right, horizontally elongated bar-shaped or flat side bumpers (also called side guards) have been known as protective devices attached to both the left and right sides of the vehicle. Furthermore, as a flat side bumper designed to improve the aerodynamic performance of the vehicle, the entanglement prevention device shown in Patent Document 1 is known. This entanglement prevention device is constructed by incorporating rectangular panel members into a rectangular frame. Japanese Patent Publication No. 2008-149795 This is a diagram showing a truck equipped with side bumpers. This is an end view of the middle section member, where (A) is an overall view and (B) is an enlarged view of the third fitting section. This is an end view of the upper component. This is an end view of the lower component. This is an end view showing the assembly process for the side bumper. This is an end view showing the side bumper after assembly. This is an end view showing the side bumper after assembly; (A) is an enlarged view of the first and third fitting parts, and (B) is an enlarged view of the second and fourth fitting parts. The embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail below with reference to the drawings. Figure 1 shows a truck 1 equipped with a side bumper 10. The side bumper 10, which is one embodiment of the present invention, is mounted symmetrically on both the left and right sides of the truck 1, between the front and rear wheels. Figure 1 shows the side bumper 10 mounted on the left side of the truck 1. Truck 1 is an example of a cargo vehicle, equipped with a driver's cab 2 at the front and a chassis 3 and body 4 (van type in the diagram) at the rear. Multiple (four in this example) longitudinal beams 11 of the side bumper 10 are fixed to the transverse joists (not shown) of the chassis 3 using bolts and nuts, etc., extending along the front-to-rear direction of the truck 1, thereby attaching the side bumper 10 to the truck 1. A horizontally elongated panel 12 is attached to the longitudinal beam 11, extending across the front-to-back direction of the track 1. The panel 12 consists of an upper member 20, a middle member 30, and a lower member 40. These upper member 20, middle member 30, and lower member 40 are extruded from metal, and their front sides (i.e., the sides facing the track 1) are smooth, plate-like surfaces. Therefore, since the assembled panel 12 is planar, it can improve the aerodynamic performance of the track 1. That is, when the track 1 is in motion, with the aforementioned rod-shaped side bumper, a large amount of air flows downwards through the gaps in the rods, resulting in high air resistance. In contrast, with the side bumper 10 of the present invention, because the panel 12 is planar, a large amount of air flows to the rear of the track 1, thus reducing air resistance and improving aerodynamic performance. End members 13 are fixed to the front and rear of panel 12 to protect it. The end members 13 are curved in a plan view toward the back of panel 12. The end members 13 are fixed to panel 12 by bolts and nuts (not shown). Cover members 14 are fixed to the front and rear ends of the front side of the intermediate member 30 by rivets (not shown). This creates a continuous plane between the end members 13 and the cover members 14. The vertical beams 11, panels 12, end members 13, and cover members 14 that constitute the side bumper 10 are all made of metal, for example, aluminum alloy. Since the side bumper 10 is symmetrical on both the left and right sides of the truck 1, the following description will refer to the end view of the truck 1, specifically the middle member 30, upper member 20, and lower member 40, which are attached to the left side of the truck 1 (i.e., shown in Figure 1), excluding the end member 13 and cover member 14. In this end view, the left side (truck 1 side) is referred to as the back, and the right side as the front. Figure 2 is an end view of the middle section member 30, where (A) is an overall view and (B) is an enlarged view of the third fitting portion 31. The middle section member 30 is flat and has a third fitting portion 31 on its upper edge, a third mounting portion 33 on the back side of the center, and a fourth fitting portion 32 on its lower edge. The third mounting portion 33 is an inverted C-shape with a flange 33a, and as shown in Figure 6 (described later), it is the part that is fixed to the longitudinal beam 11. The third fitting portion 31, as shown in Figure 6 (described later), is the part that fits with the first fitting portion 21 of the upper member 20. As shown in Figures 2(A) and 2(B), its tip is bent outwards to form the third pressing portion 31a. The fourth fitting portion 32, as shown in Figure 6 (described later), is the p
