Description

This invention relates to a switching regulator. It is already known that in conventional switching regulators, miniaturization of integrated circuits (ICs) is required in order to reduce the mounting area. For example, Patent Document 1 describes a conventional switching regulator invented to enable multiple abnormality detection functions of a switching regulator to operate with low power consumption and to reduce the area occupied by the semiconductor device. This switching regulator is characterized by comprising a comparator circuit, multiple switch circuits, and a switch control circuit, and by switching the multiple switch circuits with multiple control signals of the switch control circuit, thereby realizing multiple abnormality detection functions with a single comparator circuit. In other words, Patent Document 1 discloses a technique for reducing chip area by switching the reference voltage and monitoring voltage of multiple detection circuits with different operating timings, and using a single comparator circuit for both purposes.
