Description
This invention relates to a fixing structure for a reinforcing fabric and a vehicle seat equipped therewith. In vehicle seats, a side airbag system is used that, in the event of a collision, activates the gas generating mechanism of the airbag module to inflate and deploy a side airbag between the occupant's upper body and the side door (see, for example, Patent Document 1). Such side airbag systems are located on the side of the seat, either on the door side or the center side of the vehicle. When the airbag module is activated, the airbag stored inside inflates, rupturing the seat pad and trim cover (seat cover) and ejecting to the outside of the seat. For the airbag module to function properly, the airbag must eject from an airbag outlet located in a predetermined area of the seat. Therefore, to ensure the airbag ejects reliably from the airbag outlet 106', reinforcing fabrics 10' and 20' are provided inside the seat to connect the airbag module and the airbag outlet 106' and guide the inflating airbag to the airbag outlet 106' (see Figures 13-15). The reinforcing fabrics 10' and 20' are typically positioned between the airbag module 202' and the seat pad 104', and their ends are fixed to the seat frame 102' via fixing members 300'. There are two main types of structures for securing the reinforcing fabrics 10' and 20': a bag structure (so-called bag type) and a sheet metal structure (so-called sheet metal type). The bag structure involves fixing the ends of the two reinforcing fabrics 10' and 20' to the seat frame 102' to form a bag, and then attaching the seat pad 104' and airbag module 202'. While this method has fewer parts and lower costs, the process of installing the airbag module 202' between the reinforcing fabrics 10' and 20', while spreading out the seat pad 104', is quite complicated and therefore less efficient. In contrast, the sheet metal structure involves first fixing the airbag module 202' to the seat frame 102', then covering it with the reinforcing fabrics 10' and 20', and finally securing the sheet metal 310' and 320' at the ends of the reinforcing fabrics 10' and 20' with rivets 303' or bolts. This method offers significantly better workability in terms of airbag module 202' installation. Preferred embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the drawings (see Figures 1 to 12).
