Description

Foldable Display Device The present invention relates to a display device. More specifically, the present invention relates to a foldable display device that can be folded or unfolded. Recently, flexible display devices capable of being transformed into various forms are being developed. Unlike flat panel displays, flexible display devices can be folded, bent, or rolled like paper. Flexible display devices are easy to carry and can improve user convenience. Recently, among flexible display devices, foldable display devices have been gaining attention. Foldable display devices can be repeatedly folded or unfolded. A foldable display device may include a display module having flexible characteristics and a support member disposed on the bottom surface of the display module. The support member has relatively high rigidity and, accordingly, can perform the role of preventing deformation of the display module caused by a user's touch, etc. Typically, metal has been used as the material for support members. However, since metal is relatively heavy, including metal in the support member can lead to a problem where the weight of the foldable display device increases relatively. Furthermore, repeated folding and unfolding of the foldable display device can cause permanent deformation in the support member, resulting in creases forming on the display module. Consequently, the display quality of the device may deteriorate. FIG. 1 is a perspective view showing a unfolded state of a display module included in a foldable display device according to one embodiment of the present invention. Figure 2 is a cross-sectional view showing the display module of Figure 1 in a folded state. Figure 3 is a cross-sectional view taken along line II' of Figure 1. Figure 4 is an enlarged cross-sectional view of area A of Figure 3. FIGS. 5 to 8 are plan views showing a first support member according to an embodiment of the present invention. FIG. 9 is a cross-sectional view showing a foldable display device according to one embodiment of the present invention. FIG. 10 is a cross-sectional view showing a foldable display device according to one embodiment of the present invention. FIG. 11 is a plan view showing a first support member according to one embodiment of the present invention. FIG. 12 is a cross-sectional view showing a foldable display device according to one embodiment of the present invention. FIG. 13 is a cross-sectional view showing a foldable display device according to one embodiment of the present invention. FIGS. 14 and FIGS. 15 are cross-sectional views showing a foldable display device according to an embodiment of the present invention. Hereinafter, embodiments of the present invention will be described in more detail with reference to the attached drawings. Identical components in the drawings are given the same reference numerals, and redundant descriptions of identical components are omitted. FIG. 1 is a perspective view showing a display module included in a foldable display device according to an embodiment of the present invention in an unfolded state. FIG. 2 is a cross-sectional view showing the display module of FIG. 1 in a folded state. Referring to FIGS. 1 and 2, for convenience of explanation, only the display module (100) included in the foldable display device according to embodiments of the present invention is shown in FIGS. 1 and 2. A display module (100) may include a display surface (101) and a non-display surface (102) opposite to the display surface (101). The display surface (101) may be a surface in the display module (100) where an image is displayed. The non-display surface (102) may be a surface in the display module (100) where an image is not displayed. In one embodiment, an image may be displayed on the non-display surface (102) as well. For example, an image may be displayed on a part of the non-display surface (102). Or, an image may be displayed on the entire non-display surface (102). The display module (100) may have a stacked structure. For example, the display module (100) may include several layers having different functions. Each of the several layers may have flexible characteristics, and accordingly, the display module (100) may have flexible characteristics. The display module (100) may include a first non-folding part (NFA1), a second non-folding part (NFA2), and a first folding part (FA1) located between the first non-folding part (NFA1) and the second non-folding part (NFA2). The display module (100) may not be folded in the first and second non-folding parts (NFA1, NFA2). The display module (100) may have a flat surface in the first and second non-folding parts (NFA1, NFA2). The display module (100) can be folded and unfolded in the first folding section (FA1). The display module (100) can be folded (e.g., the folded state of FIG. 2) or unfolded (e.g., the unfolded state of FIG. 1) in the first folding section (FA1). Additionally, the display module (100) can be folded inwar
