Abstract

The present invention relates to a secondary battery in which the first region and the second region of the insulating sheet are made of different materials, thereby blocking heat conduction between the electrode assembly and the cap plate and also verifying the presence of foreign matter through vision inspection. For example, the present invention discloses a secondary battery comprising an electrode assembly having a first electrode tab and a second electrode tab, a first terminal electrically connected to the first electrode tab of the electrode assembly, an insulating sheet having a first region covering the upper surface of the electrode assembly and a second region covering both long sides of the electrode assembly, a case accommodating the electrode assembly, the first terminal and the insulating sheet, and a cap plate sealing the upper opening of the case, wherein the insulating sheet has the first region composed of three layers and the second region capable of transmitting light.

Description

Secondary Battery Various embodiments of the present invention relate to secondary batteries. Unlike primary batteries, which cannot be recharged, secondary batteries are rechargeable and dischargeable. Low-capacity batteries, consisting of a single cell packaged in a pack, are used in small portable electronic devices such as mobile phones and camcorders, while high-capacity batteries, consisting of dozens of connected packs, are widely used as power sources for motors in hybrid and electric vehicles. A secondary battery can be constructed by housing an electrode assembly formed by interposing a separator between a positive plate and a negative plate, along with an electrolyte, in a case, and installing a cap plate in the case. Here, typical examples of the electrode assembly include a wound type or a stack type. In such an electrode assembly, a non-circulating tab may protrude in an upward or lateral direction, and a current collector may be connected to the non-circulating tab. The information described above disclosed in the background technology of this invention is intended only to enhance understanding of the background of the embodiments of the present invention, and therefore may include information that does not constitute prior art. FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a secondary battery according to an embodiment of the present invention. FIG. 2 is a cross-sectional view of a secondary battery according to an embodiment of the present invention. FIG. 3 is an exploded perspective view of a secondary battery according to an embodiment of the present invention. FIGS. 4a and FIGS. 4b are an enlarged perspective view and a cross-sectional view of the insulating sheet shown in FIG. 3. Figure 5 is another example of a cross-sectional view of the insulating sheet shown in Figure 4a. FIGS. 6a and FIGS. 6b are a perspective view and a cross-sectional view illustrating other examples of an insulating sheet of a secondary battery of the present invention. Hereinafter, preferred embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the attached drawings. The embodiments of the present invention are provided to more fully explain the invention to those skilled in the art, and the following embodiments may be modified in various different forms, and the scope of the invention is not limited to the following embodiments. Rather, these embodiments are provided to make the disclosure more faithful and complete and to fully convey the spirit of the invention to those skilled in the art. Additionally, in the drawings below, the thickness or size of each layer is exaggerated for convenience and clarity of explanation, and like reference numerals in the drawings refer to like elements. As used herein, the term "and/or" includes any one of the listed items and all combinations of one or more thereof. Furthermore, in this specification, the meaning of "connected" refers not only to cases where Member A and Member B are directly connected, but also to cases where Member C is interposed between Member A and Member B so that Member A and Member B are indirectly connected. The terms used herein are for describing specific embodiments and are not intended to limit the invention. As used herein, the singular form may include the plural form unless the context clearly indicates otherwise. Additionally, as used herein, "comprise" and/or "comprising" specify the presence of the mentioned features, numbers, steps, actions, parts, elements, and/or groups thereof, and do not exclude the presence or addition of one or more other features, numbers, actions, parts, elements, and/or groups. Although terms such as "first," "second," etc. are used in this specification to describe various components, parts, regions, layers, and/or parts, it is obvious that these components, parts, regions, layers, and/or parts should not be limited by these terms.
