Abstract

The present invention provides a display device having a simple structure and capable of reducing the area of a peripheral region, comprising: a substrate; a lower metal layer located on the substrate and including a first extension line extending from a peripheral region outside the display region into the display region; a semiconductor layer located on the lower metal layer; a gate layer located on the semiconductor layer; a first metal layer located on the gate layer; and a second metal layer located on the first metal layer and including a first data line extending from the peripheral region into the display region and electrically connected to the first extension line in the peripheral region.

Description

Display apparatus Embodiments of the present invention relate to a display device, and more specifically, to a display device that can reduce the area of the surrounding region while having a simple structure. Generally, a display device includes a plurality of pixels, and each of the plurality of pixels includes a display element and a pixel circuit for controlling the display element. The pixel circuit includes a thin film transistor (TFT), a capacitor, and wiring, etc. These pixel circuits control the brightness of the pixels according to the transmitted data signals, etc. The data signals are transmitted to the pixels via data lines from a driver located in the peripheral area outside the display area. FIG. 1 is a plan view schematically illustrating a part of a display device according to one embodiment of the present invention. FIG. 2 is a side view schematically illustrating the display device of FIG. 1. FIG. 3 is a plan view schematically illustrating a part of a display device according to one embodiment of the present invention. FIGS. 4 and FIGS. 5 are schematic plan views showing enlarged portion A of FIG. 3. Referring to FIGS. 1 and 2, a display device according to the present embodiment includes a display panel (10). Any display device that includes a display panel (10) is possible. For example, the display device may be various devices such as a smartphone, tablet, laptop, television, or billboard. The display panel (10) includes a display area (DA) and a peripheral area (PA) outside the display area (DA). The display area (DA) is a portion that displays an image and may have multiple pixels arranged therein. The display area (DA) may have various shapes, such as a circle, an ellipse, a polygon, or a specific geometric shape. In FIG. 1, the display area (DA) is shown as having a roughly rectangular shape with rounded corners. The peripheral area (PA) is located outside the display area (DA). The peripheral area (PA) may include a first peripheral area (PA1) positioned to roughly surround the display area (DA), and a second peripheral area (PA2) located below the display area (DA) in the (-y direction) and extending in a direction away from the display area (DA) in the (-y direction).
