Description

Cosmetic composition comprising spherical silica The present invention relates to a cosmetic composition comprising spherical silica, and more specifically, to a cosmetic composition that provides an excellent user experience and a formulation that is easy to fill into a container through a combination of wax and specific silica. Oil balm formulations typically incorporate various powders to provide a smooth application, skin adhesion, and gloss based on a high oil and wax content. Conventionally, powders such as PMMA (polymethylmethacrylate), nylon-12, and PMSQ (polymethylsilsesquioxane) have been combined to achieve slipperiness, soft-focus effects, stabilization of content viscosity, and inhibition of oil bleed. These powders have been applied to fine-tune the feel and spreadability depending on particle shape, the presence or absence of surface treatment, and average particle size. However, as concerns regarding the environmental persistence, regulatory trends on microplastics, and human safety of microplastic powders such as PMMA, Nylon-12, and PMSQ continue to be raised, there is a demand for the use of alternative powders that can reduce environmental impact while ensuring the same or similar feel and visual effects as conventional technologies. In other words, maintaining sensory characteristics such as spreadability, oiliness, and post-use tactile sensation while aiming for a “microplastic-free” composition has emerged as a technical challenge. While silica is relatively eco-friendly, its application to oily balm formulations presents a problem where fluidity deteriorates rapidly due to its inherently high oil absorption capacity. Specifically, as silica strongly absorbs and retains oil, viscosity and hardness increase excessively, worsening the flowability and filling properties of the contents and tending to intensify the rough sensation perceived as grittyness upon application. Furthermore, as silica adsorbs oil from the skin's surface, post-use dryness may increase, potentially leading to an imbalance between moisturization and the formation of an oil film. Accordingly, the inventors have completed a cosmetic composition that exhibits appropriate formulation fluidity without containing conventional microplastic powders, through a combination of silica with low oil absorption capacity, and has excellent filling properties and a pleasant feel. A brief description of each drawing is provided to help to better understand the drawings cited in the detailed description of the invention. Figure 1 is a figure showing photographs of the formulations observed after filling Example 1, Comparative Example 4, and Comparative Example 5 into a dish container. Unless otherwise defined, all technical and scientific terms used herein have the same meaning as commonly understood by a skilled expert in the art to which the present invention pertains. In general, the nomenclature used herein is well known and commonly used in the art. Furthermore, in describing embodiments of the present invention, detailed descriptions of related known components or functions are omitted if it is determined that such detailed descriptions would hinder understanding of the embodiments of the present invention. Additionally, while embodiments of the present invention will be described below, the technical concept of the present invention is not limited or restricted thereto and can be modified and implemented in various ways by those skilled in the art. In this specification, when a part is described as including a certain component, it means that, unless specifically stated otherwise, it does not exclude other components but may include additional components. In this specification, the term "and/or" includes a combination of a plurality of related items or any one of a plurality of related items. According to an embodiment of the present invention, a cosmetic composition comprising spherical silica is provided, and the cosmetic composition of the present invention is characterized by realizing a formulation with excellent feel and filling properties through a combination of first silica, second silica, and wax. In the present invention, “spherical silica” refers to spherical particles composed of amorphous silicon dioxide (SiO₂) and can be classified into porous and non-porous or hollow and non-hollow types. Porous silica has fine pores inside and on the surface of the particles, resulting in a large surface area and pore volume, which can provide excellent oil absorption capacity. On the other hand, non-porous silica has almost no pores and is dense inside, so its oil absorption capacity may be relatively low, and it can provide a soft touch. Hollow silica has a shell structure with an empty interior, has low density, and can cause strong light scattering, whereas
