Abstract

A method for managing the establishment of a session, performed by a Policy Control Function (PCF) node included in a core network comprising a Session Management Function (SMF) node and an Access and Mobility Function (AMF) node according to an embodiment of the present invention, may include: a step of broadcasting information regarding a session corresponding to the received policy control creation request when a policy control creation request in response to a terminal's session establishment request is received from the SMF node; and a step of determining a response to the policy control creation request based on whether a response to the broadcast is received.

Description

Method for managing the establishment of sessions performed by PCF The present invention relates to a method for managing the establishment of a session performed by a PCF. As the types of communication services and transmission speeds required in LTE communication systems become more diverse, the expansion of LTE frequencies and the evolution into 5G communication systems are actively underway. The rapidly evolving 5G communication system supports scenarios such as eMBB (enhanced mobile broadband), mMTC (massive machine type communications), and URLLC (ultra-reliable and low latency communications) while accommodating as many terminals as possible based on limited wireless resources. Meanwhile, session management in a mobile communication network refers to a series of processes related to the creation and deletion of sessions, including the process of newly assigning an IP (Internet Protocol) address, such as when a mobile communication terminal is turned on, and the process of releasing an assigned IP address, such as when a mobile communication terminal is turned off. Due to internal reasons within the terminal or network failures, there are cases where a connection to the same session is established with a new core network, even though a session has already been established with the existing core network. In this case, information about the session with the terminal device remains in the existing core network without being deleted, and since the same information about the session is stored in the new core network as well, it results in unnecessary resource consumption in terms of network resource management. Therefore, when a terminal establishes a connection with a new core network and session, the method of managing the session establishment can be an issue.
