KR-20260062230-A - Novel peptides P28 derived from Bryopsis plumosa and use thereof
Abstract
The present invention relates to a novel peptide derived from * Bryopsis plumosa * and its use. Among the peptides derived from * Bryopsis plumosa *, the P28 peptide having an amino acid sequence of size 27 mer represented by SEQ ID NO. 1 has been confirmed to have an anticancer effect that inhibits survival, inhibits invasion and metastasis ability, and induces apoptosis only in human lung cancer cell lines A549, H460, and H1299, and is provided as a component of a new anticancer agent.

Description
Novel peptides P28 derived from Bryopsis plumosa and use thereof The present invention relates to a novel peptide derived from * Bryopsis plumosa * and its uses. Cancer manifests in various forms, including colorectal, breast, prostate, and brain cancers, due to factors such as population aging, the widespread consumption of high-fat diets resulting from the Westernization of dietary habits, the rapid increase in environmental pollutants, and rising alcohol consumption. Although cancer is a disease with a high mortality rate globally, the mortality rate has recently been on a downward trend as continuous research has led to the development of various treatments and therapeutic methods. Nevertheless, because the onset of cancer causes suffering to the patient and those around them, including their families, research is constantly being conducted to develop new treatments that are more effective and have fewer side effects than existing therapies. The first anticancer drugs were developed based on chemical substances. Subsequently, targeted anticancer drugs and immunotherapies utilizing immune functions were developed. Recently marketed anticancer drugs exhibit diverse forms and effects, such as enhanced specificity for certain cancers or low side effects. While targeted and immunotherapies are being developed to target specific tumor cells, problems such as excessive costs, low penetration efficiency, side effects caused by excessive immune responses, or the development of cancer resistance persist before they can be commercialized as treatments. Consequently, there is a demand for the development of new anticancer drugs that are highly effective in killing cancer cells while having minimal side effects. Recently, anticancer drug candidates exhibiting anticancer effects based on small molecules derived from natural products with low side effects are continuously being reported. The terms used in this specification have been selected based on currently widely used general terms whenever possible, taking into account their functions in the present invention; however, these terms may vary depending on the intent of those skilled in the art, case law, the emergence of new technologies, etc. Additionally, in specific cases, terms have been arbitrarily selected by the applicant, and in such cases, their meanings will be described in detail in the relevant description of the invention. Therefore, the terms used in this invention should be defined not merely by their names, but based on their meanings and the overall content of the invention. Unless otherwise defined, all terms used herein, including technical or scientific terms, have the same meaning as generally understood by those skilled in the art to which the present invention pertains. Terms such as those defined in commonly used dictionaries should be interpreted as having a meaning consistent with their meaning in the context of the relevant technology, and should not be interpreted in an ideal or overly formal sense unless explicitly defined in this application. The present invention will be described in more detail below. The present invention provides a peptide composed of an amino acid sequence represented by SEQ ID NO. 1. The peptide is composed of SEQ ID NO. 1 (CCKKPWLRCWRTCLPSRWQRERFGRKC) having a size of 27 mer, is a peptide derived from * Bryopsis plumosa *, can be isolated from natural raw materials, or may be a recombinant peptide. The aforementioned * Bryopsis plumosa * is a green island plant that grows naturally along coastlines and is distributed globally, ranging from the polar regions to the tropical regions, including the Korean coast. The thallus of *Bryopsis plumosa* is dark green and resembles moss or feathers; it is primarily epiphytic to rocks and is composed of multiple main axes. The scope of functional equivalents of the present invention includes derivatives in which a portion of the chemical structure of the peptide is modified while maintaining the basic framework of the peptide represented by the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO. 1 and anticancer activity. For example, structural modifications t
