Abstract

The present invention relates to a composition for improving, preventing, or treating obesity in animals containing a rosehip flower bud extract. By including rosehip flower bud extract as an active ingredient, the invention aims to provide an animal composition with excellent anti-obesity efficacy by exhibiting effects such as inhibiting fat accumulation, reducing triglyceride content, increasing the expression of ATGL (Adipose triglyceride lipase) and AMPK (AMP-activated protein kinase) proteins, and reducing the expression of G0S2 (G0/G1 switch 2) and Perilipin proteins.

Description

A composition for improving, preventing or treating obesity in animals containing Rosa rugosa flower bud extract as an active ingredient The present invention relates to a composition for improving, preventing, or treating obesity in animals comprising a rosehip flower bud extract as an active ingredient. More specifically, the invention relates to a composition for improving, preventing, or treating obesity in animals comprising a rosehip flower bud extract with excellent anti-obesity effects, obtained by confirming the anti-obesity functionality of the rosehip flower bud extract and establishing optimal extraction conditions. Obesity refers to a condition in which an excessive amount of body fat accumulates. It is a phenomenon where excess energy is stored in the form of body fat due to a chronic imbalance between nutrient intake and energy expenditure. Obesity arises from a complex interplay of genetic and phenomenological abnormalities involving various neuroendocrine substances and factors related to energy metabolism. Its causes are highly diverse, including irregular eating habits, excessive food intake, lack of exercise, endocrine disorders, genetic factors, psychological factors, and medications. If obesity develops and persists, it leads to various complications such as hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, fatty liver, and degenerative arthritis, and also increases the risk of developing various types of cancer. Consequently, while various treatments for obesity are being researched, the available obesity medications are very limited due to various side effects. As of 2020, obesity treatments available in Korea include drugs approved for short-term use such as phentermine, diethylpropion, phendimetrazine, and mazindol, as well as drugs approved for long-term use such as orlistat, naltrexone/bupropion extended-release tablets, phentermine/topiramate capsules, and liraglutide. The obesity treatment market grew from $1.2 billion in 2016 to $1.75 billion in 2020, and various obesity treatments are being researched both domestically and internationally (Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy "Bio-industry Technology Development Project" Information Report, July 2021, Korea Pharmaceutical & Bio Association). Meanwhile, as the global demand for companion animals increases, related industries are also growing rapidly. The food sector, such as pet food and treats, accounts for the largest share of the pet industry, and consumer demands for the quality and safety of pet food are on the rise to improve the quality of life and health of pets. On the other hand, the obesity rate among domestic dogs is estimated at approximately 40%, and surveys indicate that some owners are unaware that their pets are obese, highlighting the urgent need for better obesity management in pets. Accordingly, the present invention aimed to develop a composition capable of effectively improving obesity using the natural product Rosa rugosa ( Rosa rugosa THUNB.), and in particular, by including a flower bud extract of Rosa rugosa, the invention aimed to develop a composition that exhibits excellent effects in improving, preventing, or treating obesity in animals by inhibiting fat accumulation, reducing triglyceride content, increasing the expression of ATGL (Adipose triglyceride lipase) and AMPK (AMP-activated protein kinase) proteins, and reducing the expression of G0S2 (G0/G1 switch 2) and Perilipin proteins. The present invention aims to provide an animal pharmaceutical composition for the prevention or treatment of obesity comprising a flower bud extract of Rosa rugosa THUNB. as an active ingredient. In addition, the present invention aims to provide an animal feed composition for improving obesity comprising a flower bud extract of Rosa rugo
