KR-20260062743-A - Method for manufacturing of Curcuma longa Rhizome and the cosmetic composition containing the same
Abstract
The present invention provides a method for preparing a turmeric extract and a cosmetic composition containing the extract as an active ingredient, comprising the steps of: cutting harvested leaves, stems, or roots of turmeric into lengths of 0.5 to 5 cm; calcining seashells at 1,100 to 1,300°C, cooling at room temperature, pulverizing them, mixing with water, and stirring to obtain a precipitate, adding citric acid to dissolve the precipitate, and then gradually adding water to obtain a mineral solution with a pH of 12 or higher; immersing the cut leaves, stems, or roots of turmeric in the mineral solution with a pH of 12 or higher; maintaining the leaves, stems, or roots of turmeric immersed in the mineral solution at a low temperature of 2 to 10°C for 24 to 48 hours to extract useful components of turmeric; and filtering the turmeric immersed in the mineral solution through a sieve to obtain only the liquid phase. The effect of the present invention is that, regarding turmeric which possesses strong antioxidant activity and contains a large amount of functional components useful for health such as flavonoids and phenols... It is a very useful invention that allows for the extraction of functional components, such as anti-diabetic agents, with high yield while minimizing their destruction.

Description
Method for manufacturing of Curcuma longa Rhizome extract and the cosmetic composition containing the same as an active ingredient The present invention relates to a method for preparing a turmeric extract and a cosmetic composition containing the same as an active ingredient. More specifically, it aims to enable obtaining a turmeric extract containing a large amount of various beneficial components found in turmeric, and to provide the obtained turmeric extract as a food and a cosmetic composition. Generally, turmeric is a perennial herbaceous plant belonging to the ginger family, and the tuber, which is the part constituting turmeric, contains 6.1% by weight of essential oil, 0.8% by weight of d-camphene, 2.5% by weight of d-camphor, 65.5% by weight of sesquiterpenes (L-α-curcumene and L-β-curcumene), 22% by weight of sesquiterpene alcohol, curcumin, demethoxycurcumin, bismethoxycurcumin, turmeron, artomeron, 30% to 40% by weight of starch, 3% by weight of fatty oil, gum, yellow pigment, carbonone, and phellandrene. In addition, the rhizomes of turmeric contain curcumol, curdione, tetramethylpyradine, camphor, borneol, isoborneol, curzeren, and about 20 other components as main ingredients. The pharmacological effects of turmeric include affecting lipid metabolism, and it is known to affect the increase in blood cholesterol levels when taken as a decoction or powder, and it reduces lipid deposition, and the ethyl ether extract of the related plant Curcuma amada is known to reduce blood cholesterol levels when administered. As such, turmeric possesses strong antioxidant activity not only in the food industry but also in the biological system, and recently, its antioxidant activity in the biological system has been attracting attention for its ability to protect against peroxidation-related diseases. Recently, there has been significant interest in cosmetic ingredients derived from natural extracts that possess antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and irritation-relieving functions, in order to reduce skin irritation and stress caused by various harmful chemicals. In particular, since turmeric is a natural substance with strong antioxidant activity, the development value of turmeric extracts as cosmetic ingredients is becoming increasingly high. Moreover, since turmeric contains a large amount of functional components such as flavonoids and phenols, it can be said that it is highly useful as a raw material for antidiabetic materials. However, since technology to sufficiently extract functional components from turmeric has not been developed to date, turmeric is not widely utilized in food and cosmetic compositions.
