Abstract

The present invention relates to a cosmetic composition having skin whitening efficacy containing a Hongbaeksan extract as an active ingredient, characterized by containing a Hongbaeksan extract as an active ingredient, which is obtained by mixing Platycodon grandiflorus, pomegranate peel, Aconitum carmichaelii, winter melon, and Sophora flavescens in equal proportions. According to the present invention, through a Hongbaeksan extract obtained by mixing Platycodon grandiflorus, pomegranate peel, Aconitum carmichaelii, winter melon, and Sophora flavescens in equal proportions and extracting under various conditions, the extract using natural products is not cytotoxic and its safety regarding side effects is guaranteed, and furthermore, it has the effect of having skin whitening efficacy due to the effect of reducing the activity of tyrosinase, the main enzyme for melanin synthesis in B16-F10 melanocytes.

Description

A cosmetic composition containing red and white acid extract as an active ingredient that has skin whitening effect The present invention relates to a cosmetic composition having skin whitening efficacy containing a Hongbaeksan extract as an active ingredient. More specifically, the invention relates to a cosmetic composition having skin whitening efficacy containing a Hongbaeksan extract as an active ingredient, which is extracted under various conditions by mixing Platycodon grandiflorus, pomegranate peel, Aconitum carmichaelii, winter melon, and Sophora flavescens in equal proportions, and which, as an extract using natural products, is free from cytotoxicity and ensures safety against side effects, as well as having skin whitening efficacy due to the effect of reducing the activity of tyrosinase, the main enzyme for melanin synthesis in B16-F10 melanocytes. With the extension of average life expectancy and the improvement of quality of life, interest in beauty that pursues external aesthetics is rising among both men and women, unlike in an era where only skin health was pursued. There is a growing trend favoring blemish-free, pure white skin, and interest in radiant and brightened skin is increasing day by day. Furthermore, excessive exposure to ultraviolet rays accelerates skin aging and promotes the generation of free radicals, which depletes the body's antioxidants and accelerates the auto-oxidation reaction of melanin production. Consequently, there is a significant amount of research on skin whitening effects regarding the potential use of natural substances as raw materials for whitening agents to reduce melanin synthesis while minimizing cytotoxicity, and the cosmetics industry is showing increasing interest in natural substances with whitening efficacy. On the other hand, melanin is synthesized in melanosomes of melanocytes located in the basal layer of the epidermis and transported to keratinocytes in the epidermis via dendritic processes. It has positive functions, such as determining skin color and protecting the skin from ultraviolet rays and external irritants. However, excessive pigmentation also exhibits negative cosmetic functions, such as forming melasma and freckles and accelerating skin aging. Melanin is classified into black and brown eumelanin and red pheomolanin, and tyrosinase plays a crucial catalytic role in the melanin synthesis process. Research methods for melanin-inhibiting substances have included tyrosinase activity inhibition tests and tests using cultured melanocytes. While tyrosinase activity inhibition tests—the primary enzyme in melanin synthesis—are conducted during the early stages of melanin polymerase inhibitor development, oxidizing agents exhibit excellent whitening effects due to their antioxidant capacity. Consequently, the cosmetics industry widely utilizes natural sources as ingredients for antioxidants and skin whitening agents that possess low cytotoxicity and high melanin biosynthesis inhibitory activity. Natural resources reported to possess anti-aging and whitening effects include licorice, Zanthoxylum piperitum and prickly ash leaves, Achyranthes root, and bilberry. As natural products are considered skin-friendly and safe whitening materials, research on whitening using plant extracts is actively underway. Meanwhile, in <Sarim Gwanggi>, it is recorded that white peony root, pomegranate peel, white aconite, winter melon, and soybean incense are each 'ground into powder and soaked in white liquor (alcohol) for 3 days to extract the product, and the result is used.' Accordingly, in the present invention, by extracting Platycodon grandiflorus, pomegranate peel, Aconitum carmichaelii, winter melon, and Sophora flavescens with ethanol and hot water, it was confirmed that the activity of tyrosinase, the main enzyme for melanin synthesis in B16-F10 melanocytes, was reduced, and this led to the development of a cosmetic material. Figure 1 is a step-by-step flowchart showing the cytotoxicity of the Hongbaeksan extract according to the present invention. Figure 2 is a step flowchart showing the free radical scavenging activity of the Hongbaeksan extract according to the present invention. Figure 3 is a diagram showing the tyrosinase inhibitory effect of the Hongbaeksan extract according to the present invention. Hereinafter, preferred embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the attached drawings. The present invention relates to a cosmetic composition having skin whitening efficacy containing Hongbaeksan extract as an active ingredient. Here, Hongbaeksan extract refers to the extract obtained by mixing Platycodon grandiflorus, pomegranate peel, Aconitum carmichaelii, winter melon, and Sophora flavescens in equal proportions. More specifically, it was prepared by mixing Platycodon grandiflorus, pomegranate peel, Aconitum carmichaelii, winter melon, and Sophora flavescens in equal proportions and performing ethanol and h
