Description
Composition for skin improvement comprising Artemisia capillaris extract as an active ingredient The present invention relates to a composition for improving skin, and more specifically, to a composition for improving skin that can improve skin conditions such as preventing skin aging, improving wrinkles, and whitening by mixing glutathione extract with Artemisia capillaris extract. Human skin undergoes various physical and chemical changes during the aging process. The causes are broadly classified into intrinsic aging and photoaging, and research on these topics has been actively conducted. Specifically, these changes can be triggered by the activation of free radicals due to ultraviolet radiation, stress, disease states, environmental factors, injuries, and aging. If these conditions intensify, they destroy the body's antioxidant defense network, damage cells and tissues, and accelerate the onset of adult diseases and aging. Therefore, maintaining healthy skin requires protecting cell membranes by eliminating free radicals generated during metabolic processes or those mediated by UV irradiation and inflammatory responses, and regenerating already damaged cells through active metabolism to proliferate them. Meanwhile, skin color is determined by internal pigment information such as hemoglobin, melanin, and collagen. Generally, the spectral reflectance curve of beautiful skin is known to have high reflectance in the blue region (400nm–450nm), which indicates transparency, and the red region (650nm–700nm), which indicates a healthy complexion. However, as one ages or as the skin is damaged by external environmental factors such as ultraviolet rays, smoking, pollutants, and stress, the spectral reflectance in the blue region gradually decreases while the yellow region relatively increases, causing the skin to turn into a lifeless and dull complexion. Therefore, there is a need to develop a composition derived from natural substances that is safe for the human body with few side effects, provides a preservative effect to skin-improving compositions, and offers excellent effects in preventing aging, whitening, and improving inflammatory skin diseases. Specific details regarding the problem to be solved, the means for solving the problem, and the effects of the invention as described above are included in the embodiments and drawings to be described below. The advantages and features of the present invention, and the methods for achieving them, will become clear by referring to the embodiments described in detail below in conjunction with the accompanying drawings. A skin-improving composition according to one embodiment of the present invention, comprising Artemisia capillaris extract as an active ingredient, comprises a beta-carotene component of Artemisia capillaris extract and a glutathione extract. Specifically, Artemisia capillaris is a common perennial herb of the Asteraceae family found in Korea. It is a plant with strong vitality that thrives even in harsh environments and survives through the winter. In traditional Korean medicine, Artemisia capillaris is used for indigestion, gastritis, hepatitis, and jaundice, and is known to be particularly effective in improving liver function. Additionally, it helps reduce body heat and swelling through its antipyretic, anti-inflammatory, and diuretic effects. Artemisia capillaris is consumed as a tea, used to make liquor, and utilized in moxibustion and baths. It contains various components, including essential oils, flavonoids, coumarins, and beta-carotene. Beta-carotene is a natural pigment abundant in green vegetables. Because this pigment is converted into Vitamin A when it enters the body, it is also called provitamin A. Furthermore, beta-carotene strengthens the immune system to help prevent infectious diseases, plays an important role in maintaining eyesight and is effective in preventing night blindness, and helps reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease by lowering blood pressure and improving blood circulation. In particular, the beta-carotene contained in Artemisia capillaris is effective in keeping the skin moisturized and increasing elasticity, and it is effective against inflammatory skin diseases by regulating inflammatory responses. Furthermore, through its antioxidant action, it eliminates free radicals to prevent cell damage caused by external stimuli such as UV rays and environmental pollution, thereby preventing aging. It also promotes collagen synthesis to increase skin elasticity and prevent wrinkle formation. Additionally, it strengthens the skin barrier function to prevent moisture evaporation and helps keep the skin hydrated, while inhibiting melanin production to alleviate pigmentation issues such as melasma and freckles, and helps to brighten the skin. Next, beta-carotene can be extracted from Artemisia capillaris in various ways, and the optimal method must be selected depending on the desired purity and quantity. In one embodiment o
