Description

A cosmetic composition having antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects containing broccoli extract as an active ingredient The present invention relates to a cosmetic composition having antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects containing broccoli extract as an active ingredient. More specifically, the invention relates to a cosmetic composition having an antioxidant effect containing broccoli extract as an active ingredient, which is an extract made from natural substances that is non-cytotoxic and ensures safety regarding side effects, and also possesses excellent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activity by optimizing the manufacturing conditions of the broccoli extract. While recent advancements in medical technology have increased the average human lifespan, modern people exposed to excessive stress are becoming increasingly concerned about their health, leading to a growing interest in antioxidants for inhibiting aging and maintaining health. Antioxidant substances include natural antioxidants such as vitamin E, vitamin C, beta-carotene, flavonoids, and polyphenols, as well as synthetic antioxidants such as butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT) and butylated hydroxyanisole (BHA). However, interest in natural antioxidants is increasing as safety issues have recently emerged regarding synthetic antioxidants, which can cause liver damage or even cancer due to their toxicity. Skin exposed to the external environment creates a suitable environment for bacterial growth; contaminants cause various bacteria to exist on skin that was sterile during the embryonic stage, and these bacteria act as a cause of skin inflammation. Consequently, skin abnormalities or diseases such as acne, pigmentation, seborrheic dermatitis, atopic dermatitis, and dandruff occur due to physiological and environmental changes in the skin. For the prevention and treatment of acne and dandruff, medicinal cosmetics with antibacterial activity, dandruff shampoos containing zinc pyrithion, topical treatments such as retinoic acid and tretinoin, and antibiotics such as tetracycline, minocycline, erythromycin, and doxycycline are being used. However, the long-term use of antibiotics due to recurring acne is becoming a major problem, as it causes antibiotic resistance not only in acne-causing bacteria but also in normal skin bacteria. Antibiotic resistance occurs when microorganisms exposed to antibiotics select resistance traits during the self-replication process and transfer these resistance genes to other microorganisms, causing them to acquire the same resistance. Recently, research utilizing natural products is actively underway as a new method to suppress skin pathogens while minimizing the side effects of antibiotic use. Meanwhile, broccoli is rich in sulforaphane, vitamin C, vitamin K, dietary fiber, flavonoids, and minerals, which helps with antioxidant activity, anti-aging, anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer effects, cardiovascular health, improved digestion, and strengthening of immunity. However, research on cosmetic compositions with antioxidant effects using broccoli extract is still insufficient. Accordingly, the present invention requires the development of cosmetic materials with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory efficacy by optimizing the manufacturing conditions of broccoli extract. Figure 1 is a diagram showing the antioxidant activity of a broccoli extract according to the present invention. Figure 2 is a diagram showing the cell viability of a broccoli extract according to the present invention. Figure 3 is a diagram showing the amount of NO produced by the broccoli extract according to the present invention. Hereinafter, preferred embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the attached drawings. The present invention relates to a cosmetic composition having antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects containing broccoli extract as an active ingredient. First, the broccoli extract according to the present invention is prepared by extracting broccoli with a solvent, and it was confirmed that the natural extract, which is free from toxicity and side effects and can be used long-term, has antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and improvement effects. Here, the method for preparing the broccoli extract is not particularly limited and can be carried out using conventional methods known in the industry. In the present invention, broccoli is washed, dried, and ground, then a solvent is added for extraction, followed by filtration, vacuum concentration, and freeze-drying to produce the product. More specifically, broccoli that has been washed, dried to a moisture content of 5% by weight or less, and ground to a size of 100 to 200 mesh is mixed with 5 to 10 times the amount of solvent and extracted at 60 to 80°C for 2 to 5 hours, then filtered through filter paper, concentrated under reduced pressure using a rotary evaporator, and freeze-dried to powder. Here, if the extraction temperature and extractio
