Description

A composition for strengthening the skin barrier and soothing troubled and acne-prone skin, containing five types of plant extracts as active ingredients The present invention relates to a composition for strengthening the skin barrier and soothing troubled and acne-prone skin, comprising five types of plant extracts as active ingredients. More specifically, the present invention relates to a composition for antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, skin barrier strengthening, and skin moisturizing, comprising Aloe Vera extract, Lavender extract, Centella Asiatica extract, Chamomile extract, and Green Tea extract as active ingredients. The complex extract of Green Tea, Chamomile, Centella Asiatica, Aloe, and Lavender according to the present invention exhibits excellent radical scavenging activity, reduces NO production, increases the expression of filaggrin and involucrin, and increases the expression of Hyaluronic Acid Synthetase-2 (HAS-2 synthetase), thereby being usefully utilized as a cosmetic composition, quasi-drug, and topical skin agent for antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, skin barrier strengthening, and skin moisturizing purposes. In the development of cosmetics, the efficacy of strengthening the function of the skin barrier, the outermost layer of the skin, is considered very important. This is because the skin barrier functions to maintain moisture, which is a measure of skin health and aging. When the skin barrier is damaged and moisturizing ability decreases, it causes skin dryness and exacerbates not only itching but also conditions such as atopic dermatitis. The skin barrier is formed through the processes of division, growth, and differentiation of keratinocytes, and is composed of corneocytes formed by the final differentiation of keratinocytes (Park Jang-seo, 2007). During the differentiation process of keratinocytes, differentiation-promoting factors such as involucrin, loricrin, and filaggrin are expressed, causing keratin filaments within the keratin to aggregate to form a cornified envelope, a hard and flat structure, thereby contributing to the strengthening of the skin barrier function. In addition, various moisturizing agents such as hyaluronic acid, urea, citrate, lactate, and glycerol also perform moisturizing barrier functions. Among these, hyaluronic acid is a high-molecular-weight compound with a molecular weight of 200,000 to 400,000 that is mainly synthesized by hyaluronic acid synthase in keratinocytes, and it functions to maintain skin elasticity by preventing moisture evaporation from the epidermis (Hak Yin Yu et al., 2015). Although the skin performs a barrier function, it is susceptible to damage from various factors such as ultraviolet rays, pollutants, fine dust, and microorganisms. Due to immune dysregulation caused by these external stressors, inflammatory skin diseases such as skin inflammation and atopic dermatitis are on the rise. Inflammation is a defense mechanism of the body generated by various types of infections or stimuli, and it is activated by macrophages that secrete inflammatory mediators. In response to stimuli, inflammatory signaling pathways within macrophages, such as Toll-like receptors and mitogen-activated protein kinases, are activated, leading to the secretion of inflammatory mediators such as nitric oxide and prostaglandins. While these generated factors play an important role in activating the immune function of surrounding cells, their excessive production can cause disease exacerbation (Joong Hyun Shim, 2017). Prior art literature Patent Document 1. Korean Registered Patent No. 10-0656287 Hereinafter, a composition for antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, skin barrier strengthening, and skin moisturizing purposes comprising Aloe Vera extract, Lavender extract, Centella Asiatica extract, Chamomile extract, and Green Tea extract as active ingredients according to a specific embodiment of the invention will be described in detail. However, this is presented as one example of the invention and does not limit the scope of the invention, and it is obvious to those skilled in the art that various modifications to the embodiment are possible within the scope of the invention. Throughout this specification, unless otherwise specifically stated, "includes" or "contains" refers to the inclusion of any component (or constituent) without any particular limitation and should not be interpreted as excluding the addition of other components (or constituents). As used in this specification, the term "extract" refers to a substance obtained by extracting components of a natural product, regardless of the extraction method, extraction solvent, extracted components, or the form of the extract. It may include all substances that can be obtained by processing or treating the substance obtained by extracting components of a natural product through other methods after extraction. The extract may be obtained using extraction methods and extraction solvents known in the art. The e
