Visitors tend to perceive dinosaur exhibits as mere stuffed artifacts or models, and their memory and interest in the dinosaur natural heritage do not tend to persist even after the exhibition ends. Moreover, traditional exhibition methods fail to reflect advancements in digital technology and provide only a passive viewing experience. Visitors are limited to looking at models and reading explanatory texts, and the delivery of information is one-way and restricted. Due to the lack of interactive or immersive content experiences utilizing digital technologies such as smartphones, tablets, AR (augmented reality), and VR (virtual reality), they fail to satisfy the smart viewing expectations of the modern digital generation. Therefore, there is a need for exhibition methods that move beyond simple visual model displays and enable visitors to gain a deeper understanding of the dinosaur natural heritage through an immersive experience. In particular, there is a need for content that allows visitors to realistically experience ‘the hunting of carnivorous dinosaurs,’ ‘the natural landscape of the Jurassic period where dinosaurs lived,’ and ‘the symbiotic relationship between carnivorous and herbivorous dinosaurs as they experienced volcanic eruptions.’ Through this, visitors can gain a deeper understanding of the importance of dinosaur heritage and develop the exhibition from a simple viewing experience into a venue for learning and experience.
