Description
Reinforcement assembly and battery protection assembly including the same The present invention relates to a reinforcing assembly and a battery protection structure including the same. Generally, electric vehicles include pure electric vehicles (EVs) that drive by powering a drive motor, hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) that drive using both an engine and a drive motor, and fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEVs) that drive by powering a drive motor using electricity generated from a fuel cell. An electric vehicle includes a battery as a storage means to supply power to the drive motor, in addition to a drive motor for driving the vehicle; for example, nickel-hydrogen and lithium-polymer batteries are used. Such a battery is composed of a battery pack in which multiple battery pack modules are combined in series or parallel, and the battery pack is mounted in the electric vehicle while housed within a battery case. The battery case utilizes various load-bearing members to protect the batteries housed inside. A representative example is the side frame of the battery case, which forms a side wall that partitions the space where the battery cells are mounted and surrounds the cells to protect them from external impacts. Side frames and battery cases are generally manufactured using aluminum or aluminum alloys. This is due to the inherent lightweight nature of aluminum and the advantages of formability, such as the ability to easily create side frames with complex cross-sections using extrusion processes. While this approach offers significant weight reduction, it presents a problem in terms of mass production feasibility, as there is a high likelihood of shape errors caused by spring packs during the actual manufacturing process.
