Abstract

The present invention relates to a road traffic light control device using an electronic display board, comprising: a traffic light composed of a green lamp, a direction indicator lamp, a yellow lamp, and a red lamp, which operates (turns on, flashes, or turns off) according to a set control signal; a display module linked to the traffic light that displays the remaining signal status until the signal changes in time (seconds) and provides information on the signal scheduled to change in text (Korean and English); and a control module that generates a control signal to operate the traffic light in accordance with a preset operation sequence and operation time, and generates a control signal that outputs information on the signal scheduled to change in text synchronized with the signal status of the traffic light. According to the present invention as described above, by providing information on the remaining signal status in seconds until the signal changes through an electronic display installed to be linked to a traffic light installed on an existing road, as well as providing information on the signal that is scheduled to change in text (Korean and English), it is possible to install it on an operating traffic light, and vehicle drivers can sufficiently recognize the traffic signal change cycle in advance, making it easier to determine whether to proceed at an intersection, and also preventing traffic safety accidents in advance.

Description

Road traffic light control device using an electronic display board The present invention relates to a road traffic light control device using an electronic display board, and more specifically, to a technology for controlling an electronic display board that provides information on the signal status of a road in terms of time (seconds) and text (Korean and English). Traffic lights installed on roads are devices consisting of blue, red, yellow, and/or directional signals that guide drivers of vehicles on whether to proceed. However, as in conventional systems, there was a problem in that drivers could not know the remaining time of a currently illuminated signal when driving by visually checking the traffic lights. In other words, since traffic lights adopt a structure in which blue, red, yellow, and/or turn signals automatically switch according to set times, the remaining time cannot be checked during the signal change. Consequently, start and stop signals are not clearly conveyed to the driver, which becomes a factor that can cause various accidents at intersections. For example, if a vehicle proceeds toward an intersection from a distance intending to go straight, and the signal indicating proceed is blue, the driver does not know when the traffic light will change to red (or yellow). Therefore, the driver may drive by accelerating excessively to pass through or by slowing down in advance to prepare for a stop signal. As such, in the case of vehicles that accelerate excessively to pass through an intersection, there is a risk of a rear-end collision with a vehicle proceeding through the intersection after checking the changed green signal if the traffic light turns red while the vehicle is passing through. In the case of vehicles that slow down and stop in advance, there were problems such as obstructing the path of following vehicles, causing traffic congestion, or rear-end collisions caused by the sudden braking of following vehicles. In other words, since the timing of traffic light changes varies for each intersection, drivers may judge the change in traffic lights differently. Consequently, if a driver is mistaken and proceeds prematurely, believing the next signal is for their direction of travel, there is a very high probability of a collision. Additionally, since drivers cannot accurately judge the timing of traffic light changes, many traffic accidents occur during the time of signal changes. As a technology to improve these problems, Korean Registered Utility Model No. 0299848 discloses a time display device for a road traffic signal light that indicates the time from when the red and green lamps are turned on until they are turned off by fixing a character display board composed of several three-color light-emitting diodes capable of counting numbers to a traffic signal light installed on a crosswalk or roadway. However, in the case of the prior art, a text display board composed of three-color light-emitting diodes is attached to the top of a road traffic signal light including a green lamp, a yellow lamp, and a red lamp, and is configured to display only numbers counting from the set time (60 seconds) toward 0 seconds. As such, according to the configuration of the conventional technology, the driver can only check the time remaining until the signal changes. Therefore, the driver is not informed of the time when the green lamp turns off and the yellow lamp turns on, or when the left-turn signal light turns on. Accordingly, the applicant intends to propose a device that improves upon the problems of various collisions and accidents that frequently occur due to the signal system based on simple on/off methods at intersections as described above, by providing information on the remaining signal status in time (seconds) until the signal changes via an electronic display board, as well as providing information on the signal that is scheduled to change in text (Korean and English).
