Abstract

The present invention relates to a frame for a mobile terminal that combines a ring member with a casting bracket, comprising: a ring member formed into a square shape by rolling, drawing, or extruding a circular wire and segmented into two or more parts; and a casting bracket formed through a die-casting process and joined to the outer edge of the ring member by welding. By laser welding the casting bracket, which has a minimized amount of processing, to the surface of the ring member, which is formed by bending and cutting a square wire using dedicated equipment, the processing process can be minimized and manufacturing costs can be reduced.

Description

A frame for a portable terminal combining a ring member with a casting bracket The present invention relates to a frame for a mobile terminal in which a ring member is combined with a casting bracket, and more specifically, to a frame for a mobile terminal in which a casting bracket with a ring member is laser welded to the surface of a ring member, which is formed by bending and cutting a circular wire into a square shape using dedicated equipment, thereby minimizing processing steps and reducing manufacturing costs. As numerous features are added to current smartphones, high-performance CPUs and various chips are installed, causing the size of the mainboard to increase and the size of the display panel to expand. As the size of the display panel and mainboard increased, the flat bracket frame supporting the display panel and mainboard inside the smartphone was formed from metal materials such as zinc alloy, aluminum alloy, and magnesium alloy in order to dissipate heat generated inside the smartphone to the outside, and the housing frame, which forms the bezel exposed to the outside of the smartphone and protects internal components from external impact, was subjected to technology to apply various colors to give the exterior shape a luxurious feel. A smartphone according to the prior art utilized a method in which, in order to realize a color on the surface of a housing frame, a housing frame was formed by insert injection molding plastic onto the outer edge of a bracket frame formed of metal, and then a surface treatment process of the housing frame was performed using a vacuum deposition method or the like. However, when the housing frame exposed to the outside of the smartphone is formed of plastic as in the past, not only is it difficult to maintain the strength required to protect internal components, but there was also a problem in that the heat dissipation efficiency for releasing heat generated internally to the outside was lower compared to the metal material constituting the bracket frame. To solve these problems, Korean Registered Patent Publication No. 10-1717545 (March 17, 2017) discloses a metal frame for a mobile communication terminal manufactured using an extrusion process and a die-casting mold. The metal frame for a mobile communication terminal manufactured using the above-described extrusion and die-casting molds is configured to reduce manufacturing costs by minimizing CNC machining. This is achieved by machining a square pipe-shaped metal body formed by an extrusion process to form a rectangular housing frame exposed to the outside of the mobile communication terminal, inserting the housing frame into a die-casting mold, and then forming a bracket frame that supports the display panel and main board of the mobile communication terminal using a die-casting method. However, in the case of metal frames for mobile communication terminals manufactured using the aforementioned extrusion and die-casting molds, the bracket frame formed by the die-casting method still requires a significant CNC machining process to process detailed shapes, and there is a problem in that deformation and defects occur on the metal surface when the housing frame is inserted into the die-casting mold to form the bracket frame by the die-casting method, as the housing frame is exposed to the high-temperature environment caused by die-casting.
