Description

Method, apparatus and system for transmitting Q-tone advertisement based on household segment The present invention relates to a method, apparatus, and system for transmitting cue tone advertisements based on household segments, and more specifically, to a method, apparatus, and system for transmitting customized advertisements for each household. Cue tone advertisements transmitted via ITPV can be transmitted based on cue tone signals sent from a broadcaster's server. For example, cue tone advertisements can be transmitted during the time indicated by the cue tone signal. Generally, the time indicated by the cue tone signal may be the downtime between broadcast programs, and a set-top box connected to the IPTV can receive advertisements from an advertising server according to the cue tone signal and transmit them to the IPTV during that time. In this way, when cue tone advertisements are transmitted via IPTV, the same cue tone signal is sent to all set-top boxes, and each set-top box communicates with an advertising server to transmit customized advertisements. Customized advertisements are selected to maximize advertising effectiveness by analyzing users' preferences, characteristics, tastes, etc., in advance; they can be considered a type of personal information and can be stored in the set-top box. Because personalized advertisements are transmitted using personal information in this manner, problems could arise if personal information stored in the set-top box is exposed. Therefore, technology is required to provide personalized advertisements without using personal information.
