Description

Method and apparatus for transmission in access procedure in a wireless communication system Cross-reference regarding related applications This application claims the benefit and priority of U.S. provisional application serial number 63/717,080 filed November 06, 2024, which is incorporated herein by reference in its entirety. Technology field The present disclosure relates generally to wireless communication networks, and more specifically to a method and apparatus for transmitting in an access procedure in a wireless communication system. As the demand for high-volume data communication to and from mobile communication devices surges, traditional mobile voice communication networks are evolving into networks that communicate using Internet Protocol (IP) data packets. This IP data packet communication can provide users of mobile communication devices with voice over IP, multimedia, multicast, and on-demand communication services. An exemplary network structure is the Evolved Universal Terrestrial Radio Access Network (E-UTRAN). E-UTRAN systems can provide high data throughput to realize the Internet telephony and multimedia services mentioned above. New wireless technologies for the next generation (e.g., 5G) are currently being discussed by the 3GPP standards organization. Accordingly, changes to the current body of the 3GPP standards are currently being proposed and reviewed to advance and finalize the 3GPP standards. Methods, systems, and devices for transmitting in an access procedure in a wireless communication system are provided. As such, considering the ultra-low complexity and power consumption of Ambient Internet of Things (IoT) devices, this reduces the time duration for monitoring Message 2 (Msg2) and receiving Msg2, and handles the scheduling of Message 3 (Msg3) sizes and resources. In various embodiments, a method for a first device in a wireless communication system comprises: receiving a first message from a reader to initiate a random access procedure; performing a first device-to-reader (D2R) transmission to the reader for a message 1 (Message 1; Msg1) for the random access procedure, wherein the first D2R transmission to Msg1 includes a first identity (ID); receiving a Msg2 message including a plurality of IDs, wherein the plurality of IDs include at least the first ID, and the Msg2 message includes a single size indication associated with the plurality of IDs; deriving or determining a data packet size based on the single size indication in the Msg2 message; and performing a second D2R transmission in response to the Msg2 message, wherein the second D2R transmission includes a data packet having a data packet size. In various embodiments, a method for a reader in a wireless communication system comprises: transmitting a first message for initiating a random access procedure; receiving a plurality of D2R transmissions for Msg1 for the random access procedure, wherein the plurality of D2R transmissions for Msg1 include a first D2R transmission for Msg1 from a first device; obtaining or receiving a plurality of IDs from the plurality of D2R transmissions for Msg1, wherein the plurality of IDs include at least a first ID within the first D2R transmission for Msg1; transmitting a Msg2 message containing the plurality of IDs, wherein the Msg2 message includes a single size indication for a data packet size associated with the plurality of IDs; and receiving at least a second D2R transmission from the first device, wherein the second D2R transmission includes a data packet having a data packet size. FIG. 1 illustrates a drawing of a wireless communication system according to embodiments of the present invention. FIG. 2 is a block diagram of a transmitter system (also known as an access network) and a receiver system (also known as a user terminal or UE) according to embodiments of the present invention. FIG. 3 is a functional block diagram of a communication system according to embodiments of the present invention. FIG. 4 is a functional block diagram of the program code of FIG. 3 according to exemplary embodiments of the present invention.
