Claims (20)
- 1. A method (1000) for implementing a brake particle collection system (20) for a disc brake, wherein the collection system comprises a particle suction means (22, 24, 26) controlled by a control unit (30), wherein the method includes the steps of:
- monitor (1100) the rotation speed of the disk (4); and
- activate (1200) a non-zero level (pb) of suction if the rotation speed of the disk is substantially constant and has a non-zero value.
- 2. The method according to claim 1, wherein the activation of the suction level (pb) depends on whether the brake exhibits a residual braking torque that exceeds a threshold value (Cc).
- 3. The method according to claim 2, in which the residual braking torque of the brake is pre-set (1300) by calibration on a brake dynamometer or on a roller test bench.
- 4. The method of claim 2, wherein the residual braking torque is determined by identifying the existing disc/pad/caliper trio and accessing a database that lists the residual torques of several such trios.
- 5. The method according to claim 2, wherein the residual braking torque is measured during operation.
- 6. The method according to any one of paragraphs 2-5, in which the non-zero suction level (pb) is proportional to the residual braking torque (Cb).
- 7. The method according to any one of paragraphs 2-6, in which the threshold value (Cc) is from 1 N⋅m to 10 N⋅m.
- 8. The method according to any one of paragraphs 1-7, in which the suction level is proportional to the rotation speed of the disk.
- 9. The method according to any one of claims 1 to 8, wherein the activation of the suction level (pb) depends on the disk exceeding a threshold rotation speed.
- 10. A brake particle collection system (20) for collecting brake particles ejected by a disc brake (2), wherein the collection system (20) comprises:
- means (22, 24, 26) for suctioning particles, in which the suction level can be adjusted;
- a control unit (30) configured to control the suction level of the suction means (22, 24, 26) in accordance with the method according to any one of paragraphs 1-9.
- 11. A motor vehicle or a railway vehicle (1) containing:
- disc brake (2); and
- a brake particle collection system (20) for collecting brake particles ejected by a disc brake (2), wherein the collection system (20) comprises:
- means (22, 24, 26) for suctioning particles; and
- a control unit (30) regulating the state of the suction means (22, 24, 26),
- wherein the vehicle is characterized in that the control unit (30) is configured to activate a non-zero level (pb) of suction of the suction means (22, 24, 26) when the vehicle (1) maintains cruising speed.
