Claims (20)
- 1. A heater assembly for an aerosol generating device comprising:
- a cavity extending along the longitudinal axis between the first end and the second end, wherein said first end is configured to receive an aerosol-forming substrate into the cavity; and
- a heating element at least partially surrounding said cavity, wherein the heating element comprises
- one electrically conductive path comprising a plurality of parallel elongated portions, each elongated portion extending along at least 50 percent of the circumference of the cavity in a plane substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of said cavity,
- wherein one conductive path additionally contains a plurality of turns arranged so as to alternately connect adjacent ends of adjacent elongated parts,
- and the elongated parts are unevenly distributed, and/or
- wherein each elongated portion has a width extending in the direction of the longitudinal axis of said cavity, and wherein two or more elongated portions have different widths, and/or
- wherein each of the elongated portions has a thickness extending in a plane substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the cavity, and wherein two or more of the elongated portions have different thicknesses, and/or
- wherein said heating element comprises a first region and a second region, and wherein adjacent elongated portions in the first region are spaced apart by a first distance, and wherein adjacent elongated portions in the second region are spaced apart by a second distance, and wherein the first region and the second region are located at opposite ends of said heating element.
- 2. The heater assembly according to claim 1, wherein the elongated portions are unevenly spaced, and/or
- each elongated portion has a width extending in the direction of the longitudinal axis of said cavity, and wherein two or more elongated portions have different widths, and/or
- each of the elongated portions has a thickness extending in a plane substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the cavity, and wherein two or more of the elongated portions have different thicknesses.
- 3. A heater assembly according to claim 1 or 2, wherein the heating element comprises two electrical contacts located at the end of the heating element adjacent to the second end of the cavity, and wherein said electrical contacts are provided at opposite ends of the track.
- 4. A heater assembly according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the heating element comprises at least 5 elongated portions, preferably at least 6 elongated portions, more preferably at least 7 elongated portions, more preferably at least 8 elongated portions and more preferably at least 9 elongated portions.
- 5. A heater assembly according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein each elongated portion extends along at least 60 percent of the circumference of the cavity, preferably along at least 70 percent of the circumference of the cavity, more preferably along at least 80 percent of the circumference of the cavity, and more preferably along at least 90 percent of the circumference of the cavity.
- 6. A heater assembly according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein each elongated portion has a width extending in the direction of the longitudinal axis of the cavity, and wherein each elongated portion has a different width.
- 7. A heater assembly according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein each of the elongated portions has a thickness extending in a plane substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the cavity, and wherein each of the elongated portions has a different thickness.
- 8. A heater assembly according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the heating element comprises a first region and a second region, wherein adjacent elongated portions in the first region are spaced apart by a first distance, wherein adjacent elongated portions in the second region are spaced apart by a second distance, and wherein the first region and the second region are located at opposite ends of the heating element.
- 9. The heater assembly of claim 8, wherein the first region and the second region are spaced apart by a third distance, and preferably the third distance is different from one or both of the first distance and the second distance.
- 10. A heater assembly according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the heating element comprises a first main layer, and wherein the track is located on the first main layer.
