Claims (20)
- 1. An aqueous solution containing molecular hydrogen, at least one salt and ascorbic acid or a salt thereof, intended to reduce side effects associated with anti-cancer therapy, in particular chemotherapy and radiation therapy, wherein said aqueous solution is administered transdermally or transdermally.
- 2. The solution according to claim 1, wherein molecular hydrogen is present in an amount (concentration) of from 0.3 ppm (mg/L) to 3.6 ppm (mg/L), preferably from 0.4 ppm (mg/L) to 1.2 ppm (mg/L), more preferably from 0.5 ppm (mg/L) to 0.7 ppm (mg/L), even more preferably in an amount of about 0.6 ppm (mg/L).

A solution for use according to claim 1 or 2, wherein at least one salt is selected from the group consisting of NaCl (sodium chloride); NaHCO 3 (sodium hydrogen carbonate); Na 2 [CO 3 ] (sodium carbonate); Na 3 C 6 H 5 O 7 (sodium citrate); Na 2 HPO 4 (sodium hydrogen phosphate); CH 2 (COONa) 2 (sodium malonate); KCl (potassium chloride); KHCO 3 (potassium hydrogen carbonate); K 2 [CO 3 ] (potassium carbonate); K 3 C 6 H 5 O 7 (potassium citrate); KH 2 PO 4 (potassium dihydrogen phosphate); K 2 HPO 4 (potassium hydrogen phosphate); KOCOCH(OH)CH(OH)COOH (potassium monobasic tartrate); KOCOCH(OH)CH(OH)COK (potassium tartrate); KOCOCH(OH)CH(OH)COONa (sodium potassium tartrate); MgCl 2 (magnesium chloride); MgO (magnesium oxide); Mg(OH) 2 (magnesium hydroxide); Mg[HCO 3 ] 2 (magnesium hydrogen carbonate); MgCO 3 (magnesium carbonate); Mg 3 [C 6 H 5 O 7 ] 2 (magnesium citrate); MgC 10 H 12 N 2 O 6 (magnesium pidolate); MgSO 4 (magnesium sulfate); Mg(HSO 4 ) 2 (magnesium hydrogen sulfate); CaCl 2 (calcium chloride); Ca[HCO 3 ] 2 (calcium hydrogen carbonate); CaCO 3 (calcium carbonate); Ca 3 [C 6 H 5 O 7 ] 2 (calcium citrate); CaHPO 4 (calcium hydrogen phosphate); Ca(H 2 PO 4 ) 2 (calcium dihydrogen phosphate), and mixtures thereof.
- 4. A solution for use according to any one of claims 1 to 3, wherein at least one salt is selected from a hydrogen carbonate (bicarbonate) of an alkali metal or alkaline earth metal and a chloride of an alkali or alkaline earth metal.
- 5. A solution for use according to any one of claims 1 to 4, wherein at least one said salt is an alkali metal hydrogen carbonate (bicarbonate) or an alkali metal chloride.
- 6. A solution for use according to any one of claims 1-3, wherein at least one salt is selected from the group consisting of sodium hydrogen carbonate (bicarbonate), potassium hydrogen carbonate (bicarbonate) and magnesium chloride, as well as mixtures thereof.
- 7. A solution for use according to any one of claims 1 to 6, wherein at least one salt is present in an amount of from 10 mM to 500 mM, preferably from 50 mM to 350 mM.
- 8. A solution for use according to any one of paragraphs 1-3, 7, wherein said aqueous solution contains at least two salts.
- 9. A solution for use according to claim 8, wherein at least two of said salts are an alkali or alkaline earth metal hydrogen carbonate (bicarbonate) and an alkali or alkaline earth metal chloride, preferably an alkali metal, even more preferably when they are an alkali metal hydrogen carbonate (bicarbonate) and magnesium chloride.
- 10. A solution for use according to claim 9, wherein at least two of said salts are sodium or potassium hydrogen carbonate and magnesium chloride.
- 11. A solution for use according to any one of claims 1 to 10, wherein ascorbic acid is present in an amount ranging from 10 mM to 500 mM, preferably from 50 mM to 350 mM.
- 12. A solution for use according to any one of claims 1 to 11, wherein the ionic strength of the aqueous solution according to the invention is in the range from 0.098 mol/L to 0.25 mol/L, preferably from 0.2 mol/L to 0.24 mol/L, more preferably is about 0.220 mol/L.
- 13. A solution for use according to any one of paragraphs 1-3, wherein this solution contains:
- - sodium bicarbonate, potassium bicarbonate, magnesium chloride and ascorbic acid in a mass ratio of 1:1:1:1 (solution A);
- - sodium bicarbonate, potassium bicarbonate, magnesium chloride and ascorbic acid in a mass ratio of 2:2:2:2 (solution B);
- - sodium bicarbonate, potassium bicarbonate, magnesium chloride and ascorbic acid in a mass ratio of 3:1:3:2 (solution E);
- - sodium bicarbonate, potassium bicarbonate, magnesium chloride and ascorbic acid in a mass ratio of 1:2:3:1 (solution F);
- - sodium bicarbonate, potassium bicarbonate, magnesium chloride and ascorbic acid in a mass ratio of 1:2:3:3 (solution G);
- - sodium bicarbonate, potassium bicarbonate, magnesium chloride and ascorbic acid in a mass ratio of 2:1:3:2 (solution H);
- - sodium bicarbonate, potassium bicarbonate, magnesium chloride and ascorbic acid in a mass ratio of 0:1:2:1 (solution I);
