Abstract
According to one embodiment, a display device includes: a communication unit which communicates with an external entity; a display including a display area in which a content is output; a motor which controls the display to expose a part of the display area to the outside; and a control unit. When an event is sensed in a state where the display is in a first mode, the control unit changes the display from the first mode to a second mode; when the event is sensed in a state where the display is in the second mode, the control unit changes the display from the second mode to a third mode; in the first mode, the display area is not exposed to the outside; in the second mode, the display area is partially exposed to the outside; and in the third mode, the display area is fully exposed to the outside.

Claims (12)
- 1 . A display device comprising: a transceiver configured to communicate externally; a display having a display area for outputting content; a motor configured to control the display to expose a portion of the display area externally; and a controller configured to control the transceiver, the display, and the motor, wherein the controller is configured to: based on detecting an event while the display is in a first mode, change the display from the first mode to a second mode; and based on detecting the event while the display is in the second mode, change the display from the second mode to a third mode, wherein the first mode is a mode in which the display area is not exposed externally, wherein the second mode is a mode in which a portion of the display area is exposed externally, wherein the third mode is a mode in which an entirety of the display area is externally, wherein the detected event corresponds to detecting a wireless signal from a terminal of a user through the transceiver, and wherein based on the terminal being a wearable device executing a fitness-related application while the display is in the second mode, the controller is further configured to: control a portion of the display area to be exposed externally based on exercise information on the user received from the wearable device, wherein the externally exposed portion of the display area is increased in proportion to an exercise achievement corresponding to a percentage of an exercise goal achieved by the user received from the wearable device.
- 2 . The display device of claim 1 , wherein the controller is configured to output terminal information on the detected user in the display area.
- 3 . The display device of claim 2 , wherein the controller is configured to: receive an application list previously registered in the terminal information from the terminal based on a first control signal for selecting the terminal information; output the application list in the display area; change the display to the third mode based on a second control signal for selecting a first application icon from the application list; and output an application corresponding to the first application icon in the entirety of the display area in the third mode.
- 4 . The display device of claim 3 , wherein the controller is configured to output the application in the entirety of the display area through mirroring with the terminal.
- 5 . The display device of claim 1 , wherein the detected event further corresponds to detecting an operation of a previously connected Internet of Things (IoT) device through the transceiver.
- 6 . The display device of claim 5 , wherein the controller is configured to output information on the detected IoT device in the display area.
- 7 . The display device of claim 6 , wherein the controller is configured to output an additional control menu for the IoT device in the display area based on a third control signal for selecting the information on the IoT device.
- 8 . The display device of claim 6 , wherein based on that the IoT device has a camera, the controller is configured to output an image received from the camera of the IoT device in the display area.
- 9 . The display device of claim 5 , wherein based on detecting an operation of the IoT device in the third mode, the controller is configured to output information on the IoT device in a first area of the entirety of the display area.
- 10 . The display device of claim 5 , wherein based on detecting an operation of the IoT device in the third mode, the controller is configured to: reduce a screen of the content being output in the entirety of the display area; and output information on the IoT device outside the screen of the content within the entirety of the display area.
- 11 . The display device of claim 1 , wherein the controller is configured to: change the content to the fitness-related application; and output sound based on the exercise information on the user received from the fitness-related application.
- 12 . A method of controlling a display device with a variable display area exposed externally, the method comprising: based on detecting an event while a display is in a first mode, change the display from the first mode to a second mode; and based on detecting the event while the display is in the second mode, change the display from the second mode to a third mode, wherein the first mode is a mode in which the display area is not exposed externally, wherein the second mode is a mode in which a portion of the display area is exposed externally, wherein the third mode is a mode in which an entirety of the display area is externally, wherein the detected event corresponds to detecting a wireless signal from a terminal of a user, and wherein based on the terminal being a wearable device executing a fitness-related application while the display is in the second mode, the method further comprises: controlling a portion of the display area to be exposed externally based on exercise information on the user received from the wearable device, wherein the externally exposed portion of the display area is increased in proportion to an exercise achievement corresponding to a percentage of an exercise goal achieved by the user received from the wearable device.
Description
CROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATION(S) This application is the National Stage filing under 35 U.S.C. 371 of International Application No. PCT/KR2021/016727, filed on Nov. 16, 2021, the contents of which are all incorporated by reference herein in its entirety. TECHNICAL FIELD The technical field of the present disclosure is a variety of multimedia devices with a display. More particularly, the present disclosure relates to a display device in which the size of an exposed display area is varied. BACKGROUND A display device is a device having a function of receiving, processing, and displaying an image to be viewed by a user. For example, the display device receives a broadcast selected by the user from among broadcast signals transmitted from a broadcasting station, separates an image signal from the received signal, and displays the separated image signal on the display. Recently, due to the development of broadcasting technologies and network technologies, the functions of the display device have been significantly diversified, and the performance of the device has been improved accordingly. That is, the display device has been developed to provide not only content to be broadcast but also other various contents to the user. For example, the display device may provide game play, music appreciation, internet shopping, user customized information, and the like using various applications as well as programs received from a broadcasting station. To perform such an extended function, the display device may basically be connected to other devices or networks by using various communication protocols and may provide a user with a ubiquitous computing environment. That is, the display device is advanced to a smart device that enables connectivity and commercial computing to the network. In the display device according to the related art, all regions of the display are always exposed. However, when a black screen is always exposed even when a user does not watch the display device, the user is not capable of sufficiently utilizing a space. There are no developed embodiments for cases where a connected terminal or Internet of Things (IoT) device is present when a display device moves a cover or display using a motor to output images in the entirety or part of a display area. To resolve such a problem, research on a new form factor of a display device has been actively conducted. DISCLOSURE Technical Problem An embodiment of the present disclosure aims to provide a system for selectively exposing the entirety or part of a display area to the outside using a motor added to a display device. Another embodiment of the present disclosure aims to specifically define content displayed in the entirety or part of a display area to minimize power consumption of a motor added to a display device. Since motor operation is expected to consume more power than conventional display devices, defining specific content displayed in a specific mode is a crucial technology. A further embodiment of the present disclosure aims to provide a display device capable of interaction with a user by automatically changing a mode for exposing a display area to the outside or outputting information received from a terminal or Internet of Things (IoT) device in the display area when the display device detects the terminal or IoT device within a certain range. Technical Solution In an aspect of the present disclosure, provided herein is a display device. The display device includes: a communication module configured to communicate externally; a display having a display area for outputting content; a motor configured to control the display to expose a portion of the display area externally; and a controller configured to control the communication module, the display, and the motor. The controller is configured to: based on detecting an event while the display is in a first mode, change the display from the first mode to a second mode; and based on detecting the event while the display is in the second mode, change the display from the second mode to a third mode. The first mode is a mode in which the display area is not exposed externally, the second mode is a mode in which a portion of the display area is exposed externally, and the third mode is a mode in which an entirety of the display area is externally. The detected event corresponds to detecting a Bluetooth signal from a terminal of a user through the communication module. The controller is configured to output terminal information on the detected user in the display area. The controller is configured to: receive an application list previously registered in the terminal information from the terminal based on a first control signal for selecting the terminal information; output the application list in the display area; change the display to the third mode based on a second control signal for selecting a first application icon from the application list; and output an application corresponding t
