Abstract

A display device includes a display panel, a flexible substrate that connects to the display panel to an outside, a housing that accommodates the display panel and has an opening in a side plate through which the flexible substrate passes, a cover that is disposed on a display surface side of the display panel and is adhered to the housing, and a waterproof film that covers a gap between the cover and the side plate of the housing having the opening, with the flexible substrate passing through the opening. The waterproof film includes a fixing portion that is fixed to the side plate of the housing having the opening and a protrusion portion that is inserted into the gap between the cover and the side plate of the housing having the opening to press the cover and come into close contact with the cover.

Claims (20)

  1. 1 . A display device comprising: a display panel; a flexible substrate that connects to the display panel and connects the display panel to an outside; a housing that accommodates the display panel and has an opening in a side plate through which the flexible substrate passes; a cover that is disposed on a display surface side of the display panel and adhered to the housing; and a waterproof film that covers a gap, including the opening, between the cover and the side plate of the housing having the opening, with the flexible substrate passing through the opening, wherein the waterproof film includes a fixing portion that is fixed to the side plate of the housing having the opening, and a protrusion portion that is inserted into the gap, including the opening, between the cover and the side plate of the housing having the opening to press the cover and come into close contact with the cover.
  2. 2 . The display device according to claim 1 , wherein the flexible substrate extends to the bottom surface of the housing and is fixed to the bottom surface of the housing.
  3. 3 . The display device according to claim 1 , wherein the fixing portion is fixed to the side plate of the housing having the opening, with the fixing portion covering and straddling the flexible substrate.
  4. 4 . The display device according to claim 3 , wherein the fixing portion is fixed to the bottom surface of the housing, with the fixing portion covering and straddling the flexible substrate.
  5. 5 . The display device according to claim 3 , wherein the fixing portion is adhered to the flexible substrate.
  6. 6 . The display device according to claim 5 , wherein a length of an end portion of the waterproof film on a side where the waterproof film is inserted into the gap is shorter than a length of an end portion of the flexible substrate on a side where the flexible substrate is connected to the display panel.
  7. 7 . A display device comprising: a display panel; a first flexible substrate that connects to the display panel and connect the display panel to an outside; a housing that accommodates the display panel and has an opening in a side plate through which the first flexible substrate passes; a touch panel that is disposed on a display surface side of the display panel and adhered to the housing; a second flexible substrate that connects to a frame region of the touch panel and connects the touch panel to the outside; a cover that covers the touch panel and is adhered to the touch panel; a first waterproof film that covers a gap, including the opening, between the cover and the side plate of the housing having the opening, with the first flexible substrate passing through the opening; and a second waterproof film that covers a gap between the cover and the frame region of the touch panel to which the second flexible substrate is connected, wherein the first waterproof film includes a first fixing portion that is fixed to the side plate of the housing having the opening, and a first protrusion portion that is inserted into the gap, including the opening, between the cover and the side plate of the housing having the opening to press the cover and come into close contact with the cover, and the second waterproof film includes a second fixing portion that is fixed to the side plate of the housing on a side where the second flexible substrate is located, and a second protrusion portion that is inserted into the gap between the cover and the frame region of the touch panel to which the second flexible substrate is connected, to press the cover and come into close contact with the cover.
  8. 8 . A display device comprising: a display panel; a first flexible substrate that connects to the display panel and connect the display panel to an outside; a housing that accommodates the display panel and has an opening in a side plate through which the first flexible substrate passes; a touch panel that is disposed on a display surface side of the display panel and adhered to the housing; a second flexible substrate that connects to a frame region of the touch panel and connects the touch panel to the outside; a cover that covers the touch panel and is adhered to the touch panel; a first waterproof film that covers a gap, including the opening, between the touch panel and the side plate of the housing having the opening, with the first flexible substrate passing through the opening; and a second waterproof film that covers a gap between the cover and the frame region of the touch panel to which the second flexible substrate is connected, wherein the first waterproof film includes a first fixing portion that is fixed to the side plate of the housing having the opening, and a first protrusion portion that is inserted into the gap, including the opening, between the touch panel and the side plate of the housing having the opening to press the touch panel and come into close contact with the touch panel, and the second waterproof film includes a second fixing portion that is fixed to the side plate of the housing on a side where the second flexible substrate is located, and a second protrusion portion that is inserted into the gap between the cover and the frame region of the touch panel to which the second flexible substrate is connected, to press the cover and come into close contact with the cover.
  9. 9 . The display device according to claim 7 , wherein the first flexible substrate extends to the bottom surface of the housing and is fixed to the bottom surface of the housing, and the second flexible substrate extends to the bottom surface of the housing and is fixed to the bottom surface of the housing.
  10. 10 . The display device according to claim 8 , wherein the first flexible substrate extends to the bottom surface of the housing and is fixed to the bottom surface of the housing, and the second flexible substrate extends to the bottom surface of the housing and is fixed to the bottom surface of the housing.
  11. 11 . The display device according to claim 7 , wherein the first fixing portion is fixed to the side plate of the housing having the opening, with the first fixing portion covering and straddling the first flexible substrate, and the second fixing portion is fixed to the side plate of the housing on the side where the second flexible substrate is located, with the second fixing portion covering and straddling the second flexible substrate.
  12. 12 . The display device according to claim 8 , wherein the first fixing portion is fixed to the side plate of the housing having the opening, with the first fixing portion covering and straddling the first flexible substrate, and the second fixing portion is fixed to the side plate of the housing on the side where the second flexible substrate is located, with the second fixing portion covering and straddling the second flexible substrate.
  13. 13 . The display device according to claim 11 , wherein the first fixing portion is fixed to the bottom surface of the housing, with the first fixing portion straddling the first flexible substrate, and the second fixing portion is fixed to the bottom surface of the housing, with the second fixing portion straddling the second flexible substrate.
  14. 14 . The display device according to claim 11 , wherein the first fixing portion is adhered to the first flexible substrate, and the second fixing portion is adhered to the second flexible substrate.
  15. 15 . The display device according to claim 12 , wherein the first fixing portion is fixed to the bottom surface of the housing, with the first fixing portion straddling the first flexible substrate, and the second fixing portion is fixed to the bottom surface of the housing, with the second fixing portion straddling the second flexible substrate.
  16. 16 . The display device according to claim 12 , wherein the first fixing portion is adhered to the first flexible substrate, and the second fixing portion is adhered to the second flexible substrate.
  17. 17 . The display device according to claim 7 , wherein the first fixing portion is adhered to the first flexible substrate, and the length of an end portion of the first waterproof film on the side where the first waterproof film is inserted into a gap, including the opening, between the cover and the side plate of the housing having the opening is shorter than the length of the end portion of the first flexible substrate that is connected to the display panel.
  18. 18 . The display device according to claim 8 , wherein the first fixing portion is adhered to the first flexible substrate, and the length of an end portion of the first waterproof film that is inserted into a gap, including the opening, between the touch panel and the side plate of the housing having the opening is shorter than the length of the end portion of the first flexible substrate on the side where the first flexible substrate is connected to the display panel.
  19. 19 . The display device according to claim 7 , wherein the second fixing portion is adhered to the second flexible substrate, and the length of an end portion of the second waterproof film on the side where the second waterproof film is inserted into a gap between the cover and the frame region of the touch panel to which the second flexible substrate is connected is shorter than the length of an end portion of the second flexible substrate on the side where the second flexible substrate is connected to the touch panel.
  20. 20 . The display device according to claim 8 , wherein the second fixing portion is adhered to the second flexible substrate, and the length of an end portion of the second waterproof film on the side where the second waterproof film is inserted into a gap between the cover and the frame region of the touch panel to which the second flexible substrate is connected is shorter than the length of an end portion of the second flexible substrate on the side where the second flexible substrate is connected to the touch panel.

Description

CROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATIONS The present disclosure claims the benefits of Japanese Patent Application No. 2024-194329, filed on Nov. 6, 2024, and Japanese Patent Application No. 2025-116645, filed on Jul. 10, 2025, the entire disclosure of which are incorporated by reference herein. FIELD OF THE INVENTION The present disclosure relates generally to a display device. BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION Display devices mounted on vehicles, laptop-type computers, and the like, are required to be waterproof. For example, even when drinking water is spilled onto a display device installed in a vehicle, the display device is expected not to be damaged by the drinking water. A known approach involves providing a display device with a waterproof sheet. For example, Japanese Patent No. 5222987 discloses a display device including a display panel, a frame member, and a waterproof sheet. The display panel may be, a liquid crystal display panel, an organic electro-luminescence (EL) display panel, or the like. The frame member supports the outer peripheral portion of the display surface of the display panel. The waterproof sheet is affixed to a side of the display panel to which the circuit board is connected, and extends along a surface of the frame member facing the display panel between the display panel and the frame member. In Japanese Patent No. 5222987, when moisture enters the frame member through a gap between the display panel and the frame member, moisture accumulates between the waterproof sheet and the frame member. This prevents the circuit board from corroding due to moisture. However, this requires the frame member that supports the outer peripheral portion of the display surface of the display panel, and thus the feature of Japanese Patent No. 5222987 cannot be applied to a display device not including a frame member. Furthermore, as moisture accumulates between the waterproof sheet and the frame member, the waterproof performance of the display device disclosed in Japanese Patent No. 5222987 is insufficient. SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION A display device according to a first aspect of the present disclosure includes: a display panel;a flexible substrate that connects to the display panel and connects the display panel to an outside;a housing that accommodates the display panel and has an opening in a side plate through which the flexible substrate passes;a cover that is disposed on a display surface side of the display panel and adhered to the housing; anda waterproof film that covers a gap, including the opening, between the cover and the side plate of the housing having the opening, with the flexible substrate passing through the opening, whereinthe waterproof film includes a fixing portion that is fixed to the side plate of the housing having the opening, and a protrusion portion that is inserted into the gap, including the opening, between the cover and the side plate of the housing having the opening to press the cover and come into close contact with the cover. A display device according to a second aspect of the present disclosure includes: a display panel;a first flexible substrate that connects to the display panel and connect the display panel to an outside;a housing that accommodates the display panel and has an opening in a side plate through which the first flexible substrate passes;a touch panel that is disposed on a display surface side of the display panel and adhered to the housing;a second flexible substrate that connects to a frame region of the touch panel and connects the touch panel to the outside;a cover that covers the touch panel and is adhered to the touch panel;a first waterproof film that covers a gap, including the opening, between the cover and the side plate of the housing having the opening, with the first flexible substrate passing through the opening; anda second waterproof film that covers a gap between the cover and the frame region of the touch panel to which the second flexible substrate is connected, whereinthe first waterproof film includes a first fixing portion that is fixed to the side plate of the housing having the opening, and a first protrusion portion that is inserted into the gap, including the opening, between the cover and the side plate of the housing having the opening to press the cover and come into close contact with the cover, andthe second waterproof film includes a second fixing portion that is fixed to the side plate of the housing on a side where the second flexible substrate is located, and a second protrusion portion that is inserted into the gap between the cover and the frame region of the touch panel to which the second flexible substrate is connected, to press the cover and come into close contact with the cover.
