Abstract

Systems and methods that determine whether a progressive award triggering event occurred in association with a live stream including at least a portion of a play of a wagering game occurring at a streaming device in communication with a live streaming platform server. Responsive to the determination being that the progressive award triggering event occurred in association with the live stream, for each of a plurality of client devices displaying the live stream based on data received from the live streaming platform server, the systems and methods determine whether that client device qualifies as an eligible client device. For each of any determined eligible client devices, the systems and methods cause at least a portion of a progressive award maintained in association with at least the plurality of client devices to be made available to that client device.

  2. 2 . The system of claim 1 , wherein for each of the plurality of client devices, the determination of whether that client device qualifies as the eligible client device is based on whether a wager was placed in association with the play of the wagering game from that client device.
  3. 3 . The system of claim 2 , wherein the memory device stores a plurality of further instructions that when executed by the processor, cause the processor to fund the progressive award with a portion of any wager placed in association with the play of the wagering game from that client device.
  4. 4 . The system of claim 1 , wherein for each of the plurality of client devices, the determination of whether that client device qualifies as the eligible client device is based on an activity of a user of that client device.
  5. 5 . The system of claim 1 , wherein for each of the plurality of client devices, the determination of whether that client device qualifies as the eligible client device is based on an attribute of that client device.
  6. 6 . The system of claim 1 , wherein for each of the plurality of client devices, the determination of whether that client device qualifies as the eligible client device is based on data received from the streaming device.
  7. 7 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the progressive award comprises a multiple level progressive award and different client devices qualify as eligible client devices for different levels of the multiple level progressive award.
  8. 8 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the memory device stores a plurality of further instructions that when executed by the processor responsive to the determination being that the progressive award triggering event occurred in association with the live stream, cause the processor to determine whether the streaming device qualifies for another portion of the progressive award.
  9. 9 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the memory device stores a plurality of further instructions that when executed by the processor, cause the processor to fund the progressive award with a portion of a wager placed at the streaming device on the play of the wagering game.
  10. 10 . A system comprising: a processor; and a memory device that stores a plurality of instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to: maintain a progressive award in association with at least a plurality of client devices in communication with a live streaming platform server, responsive to an occurrence of a progressive award contribution event, modify the progressive award, and responsive to an occurrence of a progressive award triggering event associated with a live stream comprising at least a portion of a play of a wagering game occurring at a streaming device that is caused to be displayed to the plurality of client devices, determine, based on an eligibility factor, which of the plurality of client devices are eligible to win a portion of the progressive award.
  11. 11 . The system of claim 10 , wherein the memory device stores a plurality of further instructions that when executed by the processor responsive to the occurrence of the progressive award triggering event, cause the processor to determine whether the streaming device is eligible to win another portion of the progressive award.
  12. 12 . A method of operating a system, the method comprising: determining, by a processor, whether a progressive award triggering event occurred in association with a live stream comprising at least a portion of a play of a wagering game occurring at a streaming device in communication with a live streaming platform server, and responsive to the determination being that the progressive award triggering event occurred in association with the live stream: for each of a plurality of client devices displaying the live stream based on data received from the live streaming platform server, determining, by the processor, whether that client device qualifies as an eligible client device, and for each of any determined eligible client devices, causing at least a portion of a progressive award maintained in association with at least the plurality of client devices to be made available to that client device.
  13. 13 . The method of claim 12 , wherein for each of the plurality of client devices, the determination of whether that client device qualifies as the eligible client device is based on whether a wager was placed in association with the play of the wagering game from that client device.
  14. 14 . The method of claim 13 , further comprising funding, by the processor, the progressive award with a portion of any wager placed in association with the play of the wagering game from that client device.
  15. 15 . The method of claim 12 , wherein for each of the plurality of client devices, the determination of whether that client device qualifies as the eligible client device is based on an activity of a user of that client device.
  16. 16 . The method of claim 12 , wherein for each of the plurality of client devices, the determination of whether that client device qualifies as the eligible client device is based on an attribute of that client device.
  17. 17 . The method of claim 12 , wherein for each of the plurality of client devices, the determination of whether that client device qualifies as the eligible client device is based on data received from the streaming device.
  18. 18 . The method of claim 12 , wherein the progressive award comprises a multiple level progressive award and different client devices qualify as eligible client devices for different levels of the multiple level progressive award.
  19. 19 . The method of claim 12 , further comprising, responsive to the determination being that the progressive award triggering event occurred in association with the live stream, determining, by the processor, whether the streaming device qualifies for another portion of the progressive award.
  20. 20 . The method of claim 12 , further comprising funding, by the processor, the progressive award with a portion of a wager placed at the streaming device on the play of the wagering game.

Description

BACKGROUND In various embodiments, responsive to a determination that a progressive award triggering event occurred in association with a live stream, for each of a plurality of client devices displaying the live stream, the systems and methods of the present disclosure determine whether that client device qualifies as an eligible client device and if so, cause at least a portion of a progressive award maintained in association with at least the plurality of client devices to be made available to that client device. Gaming machines may provide users awards in primary games. Gaming machines generally require the user to place a wager to activate the primary game. The award may be based on the user obtaining a winning symbol or symbol combination and on the amount of the wager.
