Abstract

Systems and methods that, responsive to a first progressive award triggering event occurring in association with a play of a wagering game, cause a first modification of a credit balance of an electronic gaming machine based on a first progressive award. Responsive to a second progressive award triggering event occurring in association with a live stream including at least a portion of the play of the wagering game displayed by a client device, the systems and methods cause a second modification of the credit balance of the electronic gaming machine based on a portion of a second progressive award.

1. 1 . An electronic gaming machine comprising: a display device; a processor; and a memory device that stores a plurality of instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to: communicate, via an interface and to a live streaming platform, data associated with a play of a wagering game being displayed by the display device; responsive to a first progressive award triggering event occurring in association with the play of the wagering game, cause a first modification of a credit balance of the electronic gaming machine based on a first progressive award, and responsive to a receipt, via the interface and from the live streaming platform, of data associated with a second progressive award triggering event occurring in association with a live stream comprising at least a portion of the play of the wagering game that is displayed by a client device based on data communicated from the live streaming platform, cause a second modification of the credit balance of the electronic gaming machine based on a portion of a second progressive award.
2. 2 . The electronic gaming machine of claim 1 , wherein the first progressive award triggering event is different from the second progressive award triggering event.
3. 3 . The electronic gaming machine of claim 1 , wherein at least one of the first progressive award triggering event and the second progressive award triggering event is based on an event displayed in association with the play of the wagering game.
4. 4 . The electronic gaming machine of claim 1 , wherein the first progressive award is maintained in association with the electronic gaming machine and the second progressive award is maintained independent of the electronic gaming machine.
5. 5 . The electronic gaming machine of claim 4 , wherein the second progressive award is maintained in association with the client device.
6. 6 . The electronic gaming machine of claim 1 , wherein a portion of a wager on the play of the wagering game funds the second progressive award.
7. 7 . The electronic gaming machine of claim 1 , wherein the interface comprises a communication interface of a slot machine interface board.
8. 8 . A live streaming platform server comprising: a processor; and a memory device that stores a plurality of instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to: receive, from an electronic gaming machine, data associated with a play of a wagering game being displayed by a display device of the electronic gaming machine; communicate, to a client device, data that results in a display device of the client device displaying a live stream comprising at least a portion of the play of the wagering game, and responsive to a first progressive award triggering event occurring in association with the live stream, communicate, to the electronic gaming machine, data that results in a first modification of a credit balance of the electronic gaming machine based on a portion of a first progressive award, wherein the first modification occurs independent of any second modification of the credit balance of the electronic gaming machine based on a second progressive award triggering event occurring in association with a second progressive award.
9. 9 . The live streaming platform server of claim 8 , wherein the first progressive award triggering event is different from the second progressive award triggering event.
10. 10 . The live streaming platform server of claim 8 , wherein at least one of the first progressive award triggering event and the second progressive award triggering event is based on an event displayed in association with the play of the wagering game.
11. 11 . The live streaming platform server of claim 8 , wherein the first progressive award is maintained independent of the electronic gaming machine and the second progressive award is maintained in association with the electronic gaming machine.
12. 12 . The live streaming platform server of claim 11 , wherein the first progressive award is maintained in association with the client device.
13. 13 . The live streaming platform server of claim 8 , wherein a portion of a wager on the play of the wagering game placed by the electronic gaming machine funds the first progressive award and the second progressive award.
14. 14 . A method of operating an electronic gaming machine, the method comprising: communicating, via an interface and to a live streaming platform, data associated with a play of a wagering game being displayed by a display device of the electronic gaming machine; responsive to a first progressive award triggering event occurring in association with the play of the wagering game, causing, by a processor, a first modification of a credit balance of the electronic gaming machine based on a first progressive award, and responsive to a receipt, via the interface and from the live streaming platform, of data associated with a second progressive award triggering event occurring in association with a live stream comprising at least a portion of the play of the wagering game that is displayed by a client device based on data communicated from the live streaming platform, causing, the processor, a second modification of the credit balance of the electronic gaming machine based on a portion of a second progressive award.
15. 15 . The method of claim 14 , wherein the first progressive award triggering event is different from the second progressive award triggering event.
16. 16 . The method of claim 14 , wherein at least one of the first progressive award triggering event and the second progressive award triggering event is based on an event displayed in association with the play of the wagering game.
17. 17 . The method of claim 14 , wherein the first progressive award is maintained in association with the electronic gaming machine and the second progressive award is maintained independent of the electronic gaming machine.
18. 18 . The method of claim 17 , wherein the second progressive award is maintained in association with the client device.
19. 19 . The method of claim 14 , wherein a portion of a wager on the play of the wagering game funds the second progressive award.
20. 20 . The method of claim 14 , wherein the interface comprises a communication interface of a slot machine interface board.

Description

BACKGROUND In various embodiments, the systems and methods of the present disclosure cause, responsive to a first progressive award triggering event occurring in association with a play of a wagering game, a first modification of a credit balance of an electronic gaming machine based on a first progressive award and further cause, responsive to a second progressive award triggering event occurring in association with a live stream including at least a portion of the play of the wagering game displayed by a client device, a second modification of the credit balance of the electronic gaming machine based on a portion of a second progressive award. Gaming machines may provide users awards in primary games. Gaming machines generally require the user to place a wager to activate the primary game. The award may be based on the user obtaining a winning symbol or symbol combination and on the amount of the wager.
