WO2026096085A1WO 2026096085 A1WO2026096085 A1WO 2026096085A1WO-2026096085-A1

Abstract

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE), such as a narrowband internet of things (NB-IoT) UE, may determine whether a cell supports PWS notification and may respond accordingly. The UE may establish a wireless connection with a network entity associated with a cell. Then, the UE may receive, from the network entity via the wireless connection, a first message that indicates whether PWS notification is supported by the cell. The first message may be a master information block (MIB). The MIB may indicate that one or more PWS messages are scheduled. Additionally, or alternatively, the first message may be a first system information block (SIB). The UE may perform one or more operations to establish a connection with a cell that supports PWS notification.

Description

Qualcomm Ref. No. 2500218WO 1 PUBLIC WARNING SYSTEM SUPPORT IN NARROWBAND INTERNET OF THINGS CROSS REFRENCE [0001] The present Application for Patent claims priority to Greece Patent Application No. 20240100772 by SHRESTHA et al., entitled “PUBLIC WARNING SYSTEM SUPPORT IN NARROWBAND INTERNET OF THINGS,” filed November 1, 2024, which is assigned to the assignee hereof, and is expressly incorporated by reference herein. FIELD OF TECHNOLOGY [0002] The following relates to wireless communications, including public warning system support in narrowband internet of things. BACKGROUND [0003] Wireless communications systems are widely deployed to provide various types of communication content such as voice, video, packet data, messaging, broadcast, and so on. These systems may be capable of supporting communication with multiple users by sharing the available system resources (e.g., time, frequency, and power). Examples of such multiple-access systems include fourth generation (4G) systems such as Long Term Evolution (LTE) systems, LTE- Advanced (LTE-A) systems, or LTE-A Pro systems, and fifth generation (5G) systems which may be referred to as New Radio (NR) systems. These systems may employ technologies such as code division multiple access (CDMA), time division multiple access (TDMA), frequency division multiple access (FDMA), orthogonal FDMA (OFDMA), or discrete Fourier transform spread orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (DFT-S-OFDM). A wireless multiple-access communications system may include one or more base stations, each supporting wireless communication for communication devices, which may be known as user equipment (UE).
